As the IPL 2026 gathers momentum, anticipation is building for Match 12, where Kolkata Knight Riders will face Punjab Kings at the iconic Eden Gardens on Monday, April 6. With the tournament still in its early stages, both teams find themselves at contrasting ends.
KKR's campaign has gotten off to a disappointing start, with back-to-back defeats putting them on the back foot early in the season.
KKR and PBKS' tournament so far
Kolkata-based franchise lost their most recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which they lost convincingly by 65 runs at home. Chasing a daunting target of 227, KKR faltered despite a spirited knock from Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who scored 52 off 29 balls.
Rinku Singh also contributed with 35 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to rise to the occasion, leading to a collapse at 161.
On the bowling front, Blessing Muzarabani stood out with an impressive spell, picking up four wickets for 41 runs, while Vaibhav Arora chipped in with two scalps. However, the overall performance highlighted gaps in both batting depth and execution under pressure.
In contrast, PBKS have made a flying start to their season, winning both their opening matches. After defeating the Gujarat Titans, they followed it up with an emphatic win over the Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk.
Chasing a formidable target of 210, Punjab displayed remarkable composure and firepower, completing the chase in just 18.4 overs.

The bowling attack has also been effective, with Vijaykumar Vyshak leading the charge, supported by Yuzvendra Chahal, Xavier Bartlett, and Marco Jansen.
