Jay Shah opens up on J&K historic Ranji Trophy win (Source: X)
Jammu & Kashmir did something historic on Saturday to create a new chapter in India’s domestic circuit. Captained by Paras Dogra, J&K won the Ranji Trophy title for the very first time in the history of the sport, defeating super heavyweights Karnataka, which had the very well-known names like KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Devdutt Padikkal and Karun Nair among others.
Batting first, Jammu and Kashmir made 584 runs on the board, courtesy of Shubham Pundir’s century, coupled with important knocks from Yawer Hassan, skipper Paras Dogra, Abdul Samad, wicket-keeper Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Sahil Lotra.
Then, Auqib Nabi Dar wreaked havoc on Karnataka, taking crucial wickets of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair in his exceptional five-wicket haul. Karnataka could only put 293 on the board, which allowed J&K to have a big-margin first-innings lead.
Coming to open the second innings, Qamran Iqbal and Sahil Lotra made unbeaten centuries to take Jammu and Kashmir to 342/4 to end the match as a draw. However, due to the first-innings lead, J&K secured the victory, leaving Indian fans jaw-dropped.

Former BCCI secretary and ICC chairman Jay Shah, who played a pivotal role in Jammu and Kashmir’s remarkable rise to power in India’s domestic circuit, took to social media to congratulate J&K on its milestone triumph.

Shah, without mentioning any particular J&K hero like Paras Dogra and Auqib Nabi, lauded the collective show they had put in India’s elite domestic tournament, and also made a special mention of the coaching staff, management and administration.”

How Much Will J&K Players Earn After Winning Ranji Trophy?
As a team, J&K players will collectively earn INR 5 crore from the BCCI. The runner-ups, Karnataka, will get INR 3 crore, while the losing semi-finalists – Bengal and Uttarakhand – will receive INR crore each.
Notably, the prize distribution will be divided among players, as well as the support staff and coaches.
