Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane fell for a golden duck on Friday during their IPL 2026 match against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
In the process, the veteran opener made an unwanted IPL record, which included Gautam Gambhir, easily KKR’s greatest-ever leader.
Miserable Outing For Ajinkya Rahane On His Special Match
The KKR vs GT IPL 2026 match was Rahane’s 300th match in T20s. He became the 18th Indian to play that many matches in the shortest format of the game.
Unfortunately, all he could manage was losing his wicket on the first ball after opting to bat first in Ahmedabad.

To make matters worse, it was the first time since 2016 that a KKR captain fell for a golden duck. The last man to have that feat was Gautam Gambhir.

Moreover, this was the 11th time Rahane had fallen for a golden duck, and more significantly, his first duck in his last 50 innings in the competition, since 2020.
Shikhar Dhawan and Gambhir had 10 ducks in the IPL each, while David Warner had lost his wicket nine times without adding a run on the board.

KKR On The Tatters Once Again
KKR are yet to have a victory in IPL 2026. They languish at the bottom of the points table, having got just one point in five matches, courtesy of a wash-out match against Punjab Kings.
The other four matches they lost were against Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings.
Once Rahane fell against Gujarat Titans, KKR lost Tim Seifert and Angkrish Raghuvanshi in quick succession. They slipped to 32/3 inside four overs, with Kagiso Rabada doing most of the damage.
Mohammed Siraj had the other wicket, that too of Rahane.

Cameron Green Holds Key For KKR
After three early blows, KKR rebuilt their innings with Rovman Powell and Cameron Green holding the fort. However, Powell lasted only a short while, as Ashok Sharma provided the breakthrough Shubman Gill and his boys were looking for.
At this point, Cameron Green holds the key to KKR if they finally manage to register their first win in IPL 2026. Green is currently batting on 37* off 31 balls, with four fours and one six.
KKR, at the time of writing, are 105/4 after 12.1 overs, with Anukul Roy batting alongside Green. Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Sunil Narine are still to come.
