Peter Siddle has been in the spotlight recently, and this is mainly due to a ban that stopped him from playing in England’s T20 Blast. The issue began earlier this year when the former Australian cricketer participated in the World Legends Pro League.

Notably, this tournament took place in Goa and featured retired cricketers. However, it was not approved by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

As a result, players who played in this league were later considered to have taken part in “disapproved cricket.”

ECB took action against Peter Siddle

Because of this participation, action was taken under the rules of the England and Wales Cricket Board. According to these rules, any player who joins an unofficial tournament cannot take part in cricket events in England for six months.

In addition, reports confirmed that Samit Patel was also affected by the same rule. Therefore, the ban was not limited to one individual, and it applied equally to all players involved in such leagues.

Peter Siddle still playing PSL 2026, how?

Now, the key question is how Siddle is still playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) despite this ban. The answer becomes clear when the timing of the decision is understood.

It is important to note that the ban was announced while the PSL season was already in progress. As per the guidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC), players who take part in disapproved cricket must stay away from official matches for a minimum of six months.

However, this restriction usually starts after the player completes any ongoing commitments. As a result, Siddle is allowed to finish his current PSL season. After that, the veteran pacer will have to serve the full ban period.

It is worth mentioning that in the PSL 2026 auction, Peter Siddle was bought by Multan Sultans for a significant amount. He was picked for around PKR 2.5 crore after entering the auction with a base price of PKR 2.2 crore.

How has Peter Siddle performed in PSL 2026?

Meanwhile, his performance in PSL 2026 has been quite strong. The 41-year-old has played nine matches so far and has taken 12 wickets. Moreover, he has managed to pick up at least one wicket in most matches, which shows his consistency as a bowler.

Because of his contribution, his team, Multan Sultans, has performed well in the tournament. They have won six out of their nine matches and have qualified for the PSL 2026 playoffs.

When will Peter Siddle play next after serving ban?

Looking ahead, Peter Siddle will need to serve the six-month ban once PSL 2026 is completed. After this period ends, he will be free to return to other competitions. For instance, he is expected to be available again for teams like Melbourne Stars in future tournaments. In addition, his plans to play in England will be delayed due to this suspension.
