India have received a major setback ahead of the three-match ODI series against England. Indian pacer Harshit Rana has reportedly been ruled out due to an injury.

After completing the T20I series, Team India will begin the ODI series in England on July 14 under the captaincy of Shubman Gill.

Notably, Harshit Rana suffered a hamstring injury during the five-match T20I series. The injury forced him to miss the fourth and fifth T20Is, and fresh reports now suggest that he will also be unavailable for the ODI leg of the England tour.

Harshit Rana To Miss Out IND vs ENG ODI Series

According to a report by India Today, medical examinations have revealed that Rana has suffered a Grade 1 tear in his biceps femoris muscle. As a result, he has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against England.

The young pacer has reportedly been instructed to report to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where he will undergo treatment and begin his rehabilitation process under the supervision of the BCCI medical team.

The latest injury is particularly unfortunate for Rana, who had only just returned to competitive cricket after a lengthy rehabilitation. Following his comeback, he featured in 5 matches and bowled only 14 overs before suffering another injury setback.

Harshit Rana's Injury Timeline

Earlier this year, Harshit Rana was ruled out of India's squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup after suffering a knee injury during a warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai on February 4, 2026.

Initially, the injury was expected to keep him out for only a short period. However, the recovery took much longer than anticipated, forcing him to miss the entire IPL 2026 season. Rana remained out of action for nearly four months before finally regaining fitness.

After recovering, the Delhi pacer returned to the national setup and was named in India's squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan

Although Harshit did not get an opportunity to play in the ODI matches, he made his competitive return during the subsequent series against Ireland before being selected for the England T20I series.

Who Could Replace Harshit Rana In England ODI Series?

With Harshit Rana now expected to miss the ODI series, the Team India think-tank is expected to likely name a replacement in the coming days.

One of the strongest contenders is Mohammed Siraj, who last represented India during the ODI series against New Zealand earlier this year. Siraj picked up three wickets in 3 innings during that series while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.59.

Another option is young pacer Prince Yadav. The pacer recently made his ODI debut during India's series against Afghanistan and impressed by taking three wickets in 2 innings.

Notably, Prince is also currently part of India's T20I squad against England, making him readily available if the team management decides to reward his recent performances with an ODI opportunity.
