On Wednesday, June 10, the ICC updated their weekly ranking charts. The past week was all about red-ball cricket as India locked horns against Afghanistan, while England hosted New Zealand. There have been significant changes in the rankings, and England star Harry Brook has benefited the most.
In the latest update, Harry Brook has reclaimed the top spot and has dethroned Joe Root to become the new No. 1-ranked Test batter. With the latest move, Brook has a rating of 869.
Harry Brook Dethrones Joe Root To Become New No.1
Brook has been rewarded for his performance in the first Test between England and New Zealand. In the low-scoring affair, Brook scored a duck in the 2nd innings, but had a fifty in the first innings, which, interestingly, was only the 2nd fifty-plus score in the 1st Test.
Brook, who was earlier placed 2nd, climbed a spot to become the new No.1. For Joe Root, the right-handed batter amassed just 9 runs in two innings, seeing a drop of two spots to now rank 3rd on the points table. It also allowed Travis Head to climb a spot and sit at 2nd on the Test rankings.
Shubman Gill Becomes India’s Highest-Rated Test Batter
While England and New Zealand was a low-scoring affair, India, on the other hand, scripted their biggest win in Test history. The Shubman Gill-led side handed the Afghans a defeat by an innings and 300 runs. Shubman Gill was the star with the bat and slammed his 11th Test century.

Shubman Gill has a rating of 743 and is far away from his best of 807, which came against England in 2025.
Manav Suthar Breaks Into Bowling Ranking Charts
Among the bowlers, Manav Suthar has made it to the bowling charts after a sensational India debut. The India spinner picked up a six-wicket haul on his Test debut, following which Suthar is now placed 72nd on the table.
Rest, Jasprit Bumrah is still at the top despite not playing against Afghanistan. Kuldeep Yadav also climbed a spot and is now placed 14th on the list. Talking about other top-movers, then Abrar Ahmad is closing gap with Rashid Khan to become new No.1 ODI bowler.
Abrar has climbed two spots to rank 2nd on the rankings with a rating point of 675. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan is sitting on top of the table with 705 rating points.
Rest, Nahid Rana jumped 23 spots to now rank 24th on the table following heroics against Australia in the 1st ODI.
