India captain Shubman Gill made sure to make the Chandigarh crowd happy during the one-off Test vs Afghanistan at New Chandigarh as the local boy slammed a well-deserved fifty. The fans' turnout was low on Day 1, but the numbers grew as soon as Shubman Gill walked to bat in the 2nd session. 

India, batting first, got off to a perfect start and made full use of the conditions. The Afghan bowlers were clueless in the scorching heat and failed to pick up wickets regularly. KL Rahul slammed a century, while Shubman is batting unbeaten on 50.

Shubman Gill’s Interaction With Ball Boy Goes Viral

As mentioned above, India’s top order got off to a great start. At tea, the Shubman Gill-led side were 209/2. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill were batting comfortably. Meanwhile, a ball boy went viral around the break because of his heartwarming interaction with the India skipper.

Notably, a video has gone viral, where a ball boy rushed to Shubman Gill to seek blessing and touched his feet to show his respect towards the right-handed batter. In the now viral clip, Gill and KL Rahul were heading back to the pavilion, and as soon as they crossed the boundary cushion, a young kid touched Shubman Gill’s feet.

Shubman Gill Completes 1000 Test Runs As India Captain

At the time of writing this article, Shubman Gill is batting on unbeaten 69 (90), which includes nine fours and a solitary six. With the feat, Shubman Gill also completed 1000 Test runs as a captain.

Shubman Gill achieved the feat in just his fourth series as India captain. Overall, he took 15 innings and became the 2nd fastest Indian to 1000 Test runs as a captain, only behind Sunil Gavaskar.
