Virat Kohli and his banter with the opposition have always been a treat to watch with cricket fans. In IPL 2025, a similar incident unfolded when Kohli clashed with Punjab Kings’ spinner Harpreet Brar.
During IPL 2025, RCB took on PBKS at the Mullanpur stadium in Chandigarh. Batting first, Punjab scored just 157 runs, with only Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh managing to score above 30 runs individually.
What happened between Virat Kohli and Harpeet Brar?
Meanwhile, in the chase, RCB suffered a big blow, losing Phil Salt on just one run. However, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal teamed up for a 103-run partnership.
The duo batted beautifully together and played sensible cricket to avoid any hiccups. While Kohli scored 73, Padikkal added 61 runs.
However, amid this, Harpreet Brar had a tense encounter with Kohli. Apparently, his misguided throw on the field irked the RCB veteran as the latter chose to give it back.
As Brar came on to bowl, Kohli interrupted his run-up and told him that it had been 20 years since he had played cricket and that Brar shouldn’t try to intimidate him. Interestingly, Virat conveyed his thoughts in Punjabi, and the clip instantly went viral.
“It’s been 20 years, I even know your coach. Your hand has got so weak,” Kohli told Brar.
Meanwhile, Harpreet Brar didn’t engage much. He tried to explain his side of the story in brief, but since he was in a hurry to start his over, Brar went back to his run-up.

Harpreet Brar discloses the whole story
That being said, recalling the viral moment, Harpreet Brar finally revealed the true story. Talking on a PBKS podcast, the spinner said he wasn’t at fault at all.
Captain Shreyas Iyer had advised the fielders to attempt a one-bounce throw to maintain the condition of the ball. However, when Brar tried to give a throw to Marcus Stonis, the fielder hesitated, leading to a wayward throw from Harpreet.

This led to big confusion as Virat Kohli thought Harpreet Brar was trying to intimidate him. Not only that, but Brar also revealed that he could sense Kohli staring at him, and he tried to avoid the situation.
But Virat Kohli gave it back to him when it was the PBKS spinner’s turn to bowl. Regardless, Brar laughed off the whole scene, as it was just normal banter and nothing serious.
Virat Kohli and Harpreet Brar clashed again
Meanwhile, the rivalry between Virat Kohli and Harpreet Brar ignited again during the IPL 2026 game between PBKS and RCB. Again, Brar tried to intimidate Kohli by faking a throw gesture as Kohli was way outside his crease.
Kohli, meanwhile, didn’t shy away and stood outside the crease, thus challenging Brar to make the throw. However, the PBKS fielder aborted his plans and played down the situation.
Virat Kohli, on the other hand, also laughed it off as the players carried on. Interestingly, the rivalry first kicked off when Kohli became Brar’s first IPL wicket in 2021.
Since then, the two Punjabi boys have had their moments of heated face-offs and humorous banter.
