Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh - (Source: AFP)
In a significant development, Hardik Pandya is all set to join Punjab Kings for IPL 2027. After months of speculation, Hardik is set to leave the five-time winners. Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings have reportedly advanced in their negotiations and will submit the documentation to IPL officials later this week.
A report from Sportstar mentioned that Punjab Kings will trade in Hardik Pandya in exchange for their star bowler Arshdeep Singh and keeper-batter Vishnu Vinod, who will don the Mumbai Indians’ jersey for IPL 2027.
Talking about the salaries, Hardik Pandya earns a whopping 16.35 crores at Mumbai Indians, while Arshdeep Singh is drawing a massive salary of 18 crores per season. Meanwhile, Vishnu Vinod only earns 95 lakhs.
3 Teams Showed Interest in Hardik Pandya
The report also mentioned that three other teams also showed interest in Hardik Pandya besides Punjab Kings. Kolkata Knight Riders were in advanced stage but the trade could not materialise.
Now, it is to be seen if KKR jump into the scene and try to hijack the deal. Earlier reports suggested that Mumbai Indians wanted either Sunil Narine, Varun Chakaravarthy, or Rinku Singh to be part of the trade, but the demand was rejected.
Now with Punjab Kings nearly completing the trade, KKR might press a panic button and pull off a shocking move. Same goes for other teams, which includes Chennai Super Kings, who were once in talks with MI to bring in Hardik Pandya.
Marcus Stoinis To Join LSG, Mohsin Khan To Punjab Kings
Arshdeep Singh's departure would leave a big void in Punjab Kings' bowling department. Therefore, the Kings are looking to bring in LSG's Mohsin Khan to their setup in exchange for Marcus Stoinis.
Hardik's arrival would reduce PBKS' dependancy on Stoinis, and they are looking to trade the Australia all-rounder in exchange for Mohsin Khan.
Notably, Marcus Stoinis scored 216 runs in 9 innings, averaging 36.00. Meanwhile, Mohsin Khan also had a brilliant season, where he took 11 wickets in 7 innings, with an economy of 8.14.
