Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth have a controversial past that often comes back to bite them. The two friends turned strangers following the slapgate incident during IPL 2008. Since then, the Indian duo have shared the dressing room and lifted the 2011 World Cup together, but have maintained only a professional relationship.

Over the years, the two players have addressed the issue. Harbhajan Singh has even apologised as well in the past and expressed his wish to reconcile with the right-arm seamer.

"What happened was wrong. I made a mistake. Because of me, my teammate had to face embarrassment. I was embarrassed. If I had to correct one mistake, it was how I treated Sreesanth on the field. It should not have happened. When I think about it, I feel there was no need," Harbhajan Singh said in 2022.

Despite the apology, there have been instances that reignited the rift. In the latest events, Harbhajan Singh has again talked about the slapgate incident and made a special remark for Sreesanth.

Sreesanth Throws Open Challenge To Harbhajan Singh

While Harbhajan Singh wants to settle the old record by being locked in a room with Sreesanth, the latter has already thrown a boxing challenge to the Turbanator.

A month ago, Sreesanth appeared on The Lallantop, where he was asked about Harbhajan Singh’s latest advertisement that mocked the slapgate incident. In reply, the 2011 World Cup winner challenged Singh for a boxing match.

"This same scene, do you have the guts? Do you have the guts to come into the ring with me? Can you sign and come? Can you? I am asking him. Do you have the guts to come into the ring with me? Wearing these same gloves... This is not acting; I am smiling. You are not even smiling; I don't know what you are doing. Let's see. This is an open challenge," Sreesanth said.

Harbhajan Singh Picks Sreesanth As His Roommate

Speaking to PTI, Harbhajan Singh was reminded about his India days and asked to pick a roommate. In a surprise pick, the 46-year-old namedropped S.Sreesanth. Singh also dropped a reason that if the two of them were to stay in a single room, many of their issues will be resolved.

What Really Happened Between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth?

It was 2008 IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings when the incident happened. Recently, Lalit Modi shared a never-seen-before video showing Harbhajan Singh slapping Sreesanth during post-match handshake.

Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) won the match handsomely and Singh, who was irritated by the defeat, vented his anger on Sreesanth. The exact reason behind the slap is unknown, but the incident continues to be one of the most talked-about moment in IPL history.
