India and New Zealand cricket teams will square off in the second T20I of their five-match series on Saturday, October 24. The match will be hosted by the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

The venue also hosted the first T20I a couple of days ago, where Team India pulled off a record chase to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

India vs New Zealand 2nd T20I Preview

Team India secured a comprehensive 4-1 T20I series win over New Zealand at home back in January this year. The ‘Men in Blue’ also thrashed the ‘Black Caps’ in the final of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Ahmedabad a couple of months later.

Under new captain Shreyas Iyer, the Indian cricket team has now pulled off a record chase in T20I cricket, as they mowed down New Zealand’s 225-run total in Christchurch with two balls to spare.

With a 1-0 lead in India’s pocket, it is imperative for New Zealand to win the impending second T20I in a bid to stay alive in the five-match series.

As we head into the IND vs NZ 2nd T20I, here is a look at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch pitch report and weather report.

[Hagley Oval T20I stats]

The Hagley Oval in Christchurch pretty much offers an even contest between bat and ball in T20I cricket. However, the first match of the series at the same venue just a couple of days ago featured an aggregate of above 450 runs in less than 40 overs.

The surface supports fast bowlers with a nice bounce and carry, especially during the earlier stages of the innings. Spinners will be expected to have a huge role to play once the ball gets older in the middle overs, as evidenced in the series-opener earlier this week.

The straight boundaries on this ground are quite small, 63 meters to be exact, while the mid-wicket boundaries are around 70 meters. Toss will likely play a big part in deciding the outcome of the match, considering the chasing sides have won nine of the 15 completed T20Is played here.
