Fact Check- Noor Ahmad Being Traded From CSK To SRH?

Noor Ahmad, the left-arm wrist spinner from Afghanistan, has been a hot property as the Indian Premier League (IPL) trade window is currently open. There have been many reports floating around about Noor being traded to another franchise by his current team, the Chennai Super Kings.

The 21-year-old spinner is one of the premier spinners in the world and has played 13 ODIs and 26 T20Is for Afghanistan. He had made his Afghanistan debut in 2022 and has taken 10 ODI and 20 T20I wickets.

Noor Ahmad’s excellent record in T20 cricket

Noor Ahmad has been part of multiple T20 leagues around the world. Apart from the IPL, he has played in the SA20 League, ILT20, Men’s 100 in England, Major League Cricket, the Caribbean Premier League, the Lanka Premier League, the Pakistan Super League, and the Big Bash League.

Overall, Noor has played 210 T20 games and has 242 wickets to his name at an economy of 7.40 and best bowling figures of 5/11. However, his best performance has come in the Indian Premier League only, where he has played for Gujarat Titans for two seasons and has been part of the Chennai Super Kings since IPL 2024.

Chennai Super Kings trading Noor Ahmad?

Noor Ahmad has been super in IPL tournaments, with 61 wickets in 51 games, an economy of 8.16, and best bowling figures of 4/18. According to an X account, trade Noor Ahmad from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has greatly impressed the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The X account claims that the administration of the SunRisers is very keen on acquiring a good spinner and that Afghanistan's Noor Ahmad has impressed them the most.

According to the social media account, the Orange Army is also attempting to acquire additional spinners from other teams in order to develop a strong spin-bowling combo before the 2027 Indian Premier League. Additionally, the Super Kings are apparently in the early stages of negotiations with a couple SunRisers players.

However, the report of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) approaching Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Noor Ahmad’s trade is an unverified claim, and there exists no reliable source for this. The X account that claimed that SRH had asked CSK for trading Noor Ahmad couldn't provide any solid source or proof of the claim, and neither have the franchises released any statement.

However, Noor Ahmad’s agent, Muhammad Ali, has confirmed on Instagram that the Afghanistan spinner will not be involved in any of the trades, and the reports in the Indian media about the same are fake. Noor Ahmad will not be traded to any other franchise and will remain with the Chennai Super Kings only.

In the 2025 edition, the left-arm wrist-spinner had an outstanding performance for the Yellow Army, taking 24 wickets in 14 games at an amazing average of 17 to become the season's second-highest wicket-taker.

Despite having a difficult start to the IPL 2026 season, Noor managed to finish with a respectable 13 wickets in 14 games. Nevertheless, the Super Kings were once more eliminated from the playoffs.
