Former West Indies cricketers Dwayne Bravo and Ian Bishop have been inducted into the CPL Hall of Fame. While Bravo is set to become the first cricketer ever to be inducted under the player category, Bishop will be recognized under the non-player category.

It is worth noting that Bravo has played over 100 T20 matches in CPL between the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2013 up until the 2024 season. Bishop, meanwhile, has been one of the leading commentators of the league since its inception over a decade ago in the Caribbean.

Dwayne Bravo inducted in player category

Dwayne Bravo has been confirmed to be included in the newly established CPL Hall of Fame. The 42-year-old will become the first ever cricketer to be inducted for this prestigious honour under the ‘player category’.

One of the greatest T20 all-rounders of all time, Bravo lifted the T20 World Cup twice in his career for the West Indies cricket team. Apart from lifting multiple IPL titles with the CSK franchise and finding success in various other T20 leagues like the BBL and BPL, Bravo is also a legendary figure in Caribbean’s very own CPL.

A veteran of 107 CPL caps, including 89 for the Trinbago Knight Riders franchise, the cricketer aggregated over 1,000 CPL runs in his career and also harvested 129 wickets in the process. He also lifted the coveted CPL title five times during his journey, including four times for the Knight Riders and once as St Kitts & Nevis Patriots captain.

Ian Bishop scripts history with Hall of Fame recognition

Former West Indies cricketer and legendary commentator Ian Bishop, meanwhile, was inducted under the non-player category for the CPL Hall of Fame.

He has been associated with the Cricket West Indies-backed league since its inaugural edition in 2013. Bishop’s induction to the CPL Hall of Fame recognises his decade-old contribution in popularizing the league globally.

It is worth noting that Ian Bishop is also a respected commentator outside the league, and his iconic commentary from the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup winning moment of the West Indies team is highly looked back on as one of the most iconic moments in cricket commentary history.

When will CPL Hall of Fame ceremony take place

The CPL and the West Indies board collectively initiated the CPL Hall of Fame initiative in a bid to recognise some of the most influential figures and their contributions towards the league.

The inaugural CPL Hall of Fame will be organized on September 15 next month, i.e., just a day before the launch of the CPL 2026 playoffs in Barbados. The island nation will host the gala dinner, where both Dwayne Bravo and Ian Bishop will receive their respective Hall of Fame honours.

As of now, the CPL 2026 season is still in its second phase at Antigua, Jamaica and Saint Lucia.
