Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are hosting Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 37 of the ongoing IPL 2026 at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday. With both teams struggling for consistency this season, the match could prove to be a turning point in their campaigns.

CSK currently sit fifth on the points table, having won three of their seven matches. After a slow start to the tournament, the Chennai-based side has shown signs of recovery, winning three of its last four games.

Their most recent victory came in dominant fashion against Mumbai Indians, with a massive 103-run win.

It is vital to note that the CSK has made two changes in their playing XI. Urvil Patel and Akeal Hosein come in Sarfaraz Khan and Mukesh Choudhary. On the other hand, for GT, Arshad Khan replaces Rahul Tewatia.

One major point about the Gujarat Titans playing XI was that they have left out Prasidh Krishna, and for CSK, thefans have to still wait for MS Dhoni to play his first match of the IPL 2026.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain): "[Do you mind batting first?] Actually, yes. It's a bit on the drier side. It will remain the same. We are batting first. Don't mind batting first and putting runs on the board.

[How's the confidence in the group?] The confidence is high with the margin of runs we won the last game. We have assess the conditions and bat accordingly. Confidence-wise, are getting better as a unit. They are a couple of things we have to improve on.

[On his form] I have been getting starts and not able to convert them. It's very rare to be honest. As long as I'm getting starts and someone else is doing the job, it's good. If it's my day, I have to make sure that I make the most of it.

[Changes] We have got one change. Urvil comes in and he will play the impact player role."

Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain): "We are going to bowl first. Looks like a good wicket so it's always good to have a total on the board.

[on the afternoon heat] Actually not that bad. A good bit of breeze going on so hopefully it wouldn't be too tough on the bowlers.

[on the chat after the last game] We're doing a lot of things right. It's just about wining the small moments and in bowling when we're leaking runs we are leaking too many in a period of 3-4 overs. It's just about hitting that length ball consistently in the middle overs and that's what the talk has been about.

[on the high scoring games in IPL] If the wicket is nice, that is our talk. If the wicket is well, get 70-80 in the powerplay but it's very important to assess the conditions. If the wicket is 170-180 wicket, you got to assess that as well. At the end of the day it's important to play the conditions rather than something that hasn't happened.
