Punjab Kings delivered one of the most stunning performances as they chased down a massive target of 265 against Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL 2026 on April 25. While the match itself was packed with records and explosive batting, it was a fiery on-field moment between captain Shreyas Iyer and Shashank Singh that grabbed the attention after the game.
The match, played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, turned into a batting spectacle from the very beginning.

Earlier in the match, Delhi Capitals, after winning the toss, chose to bat first and made full use of the conditions.
KL Rahul led the charge with a breathtaking unbeaten 152 off 67 balls, smashing 16 fours and nine sixes. His innings is now the highest score by an Indian batter in IPL history. He was well supported by Nitish Rana, who scored 91 off just 44 deliveries.
Together, they stitched a massive 220-run partnership, helping Delhi post a daunting total of 264/2.
Despite the huge target, Punjab Kings showed no signs of pressure. Their aggressive batting lineup once again proved why they are considered one of the most dangerous teams this season.
Prabhsimran Singh set the tone with a blistering 76 off 26 balls, while Priyansh Arya added a quick 43 off 17. Captain Shreyas Iyer then anchored the chase brilliantly, remaining unbeaten on 71 off 36 balls.
PBKS reached the target in just 18.5 overs, completing the highest successful run chase in IPL history. This effort surpassed their own previous record of 262 runs set in 2024.

However, Shreyas Iyer appeared visibly animated and was seen speaking aggressively to Shashank Singh.

From their body language, it seemed that the captain was unhappy with something and was giving instructions or expressing frustration. While the exact reason for the exchange is not confirmed.

It is important to mention that Shashank Singh has been in the news for his poor fielding in the ongoing IPL 2026. He had dropped a relatively easy catch of KL Rahul during Delhi's innings in the DC vs PBKS match. The missed opportunity did not go unnoticed, and fans were quick to criticise the mistake on social media.
Shashank's overall performance this season has been mixed. In seven matches, he has scored 70 runs at an average of 35 and an impressive strike rate of 194.44. He has also contributed with the ball, picking up three wickets at an economy rate of 7.80. However, his fielding lapses have drawn scrutiny.
Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings' Position in IPL 2026 Points Table
Following this remarkable victory, Punjab Kings have retained their position at the top of the IPL 2026 points table. The team remains unbeaten this season, aside from one washout (against KKR).
Delhi Capitals find themselves in sixth position, with three wins and four defeats in 7 matches so far.
Punjab Kings will next face Rajasthan Royals on April 28, while Delhi Capitals will take on RCB on April 26.
