The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has been jolted with yet another controversy. The controversy in questions refers to a major hygiene concern raised at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
It is worth noting that the iconic Delhi venue will be hosting Team India’s upcoming Group A match of the tournament against Namibia on Thursday, February 12. The stadium also recently hosted the Namibia vs Netherlands match a couple of days ago.
Leftover soft drinks sold as fresh in T20 World Cup 2026
Fans planning to watch the India vs Namibia match on February 12 need to double-check the authenticity of the soft drinks they might buy at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
A shocking video going viral on social media recently showed a stadium staff member refilling large soft drink bottles from leftover paper cups. As per the uploader, the video was recorded from the Arun Jaitley Stadium. However, CREX cannot verify the explosive claims made by the social media user.
In any case, the video has been making rounds on X, with several users questioning the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) regarding basic hygiene.

Some fans are even raising the concern with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC), urging the authorities to look into the matter and ensure proper hygiene standards are maintained.
Team India aims to continue winning run
Team India started off its ICC T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a comprehensive 29-run win over USA. Overcoming early jitters at 77-6, captain Suryakumar Yadav punched out 84* runs from just 49 balls with 10 fours and four huge sixes at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The cricketer plundered 32 of those runs in the final two overs to provide India a much-needed slog-overs impetus.
In response, Indian fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj (3-29) and Arshdeep Singh (2-18) picked up five wickets between them. Added assistance from spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel helped India restrict the USA to just 132-8 in 20 overs.
With a win and a formidable NRR of 1.450, the Indian team is placed second on the Group A points table. However, a win over Namibia in Delhi on February 12 might help them topple Pakistan and secure the number one spot on the four-team standings.
India plagued with injury and illness concerns
It is worth noting that the Indian team will likely take on Namibia without the presence of both their openers, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. While Abhishek is suffering from illness and was recently discharged from the hospital, Kishan was struck on his foot by a Jasprit Bumrah yorker a day before the match.
Bumrah, however, is set to take field for India against Namibia after missing their opening match of the tournament against USA last week. The Indian team management will also be expected to take a final call on injured and recovering all-rounder Washington Sundar.
