The list of injuries continues to put pressure on the Indian team in the ongoing T20 World Cup as Ishan Kishan becomes the latest casualty. With Abhishek Sharma down with an upset stomach, and no clarity on the fitness level of Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar, Kishan has now increased India’s headache.

Team India is set to take on Namibia in their next T20 World Cup match on Thursday, and ahead of the match, Kishan was hurt in the training session, and Jasprit Bumrah was involved in it. According to visuals posted by TOI journalist Sahul Malhotra, Bumrah delivered a toe-crushing yorker and it struck Kishan on his toe.

The batter looked in visible pain, and his participation in the Namibia clash hangs in jeopardy as the seriousness of the injury is yet to be revealed. The duo took part in the net session, and Bumrah, who is known for his pinpoint yorker, delivered one to Kishan as the batter failed to play it, and was hit on his left toe as the team physio had a look at him.

Will Kishan miss the T20 World Cup match vs Namibia?

From the visuals, the Indian batter seemed to be in pain as he lay down and was attended by the team physio. Bumrah generally bowls at 140 km/h, and getting hit by a delivery of that speed could injure the batter.

Plus, toe injuries take time to heal, and while no official confirmation has been received regarding Kishan’s participation vs Namibia, there is an assumption that the batter could be rested, especially with the Pakistan game coming up on Sunday.

Who comes in if Kishan is rested against Namibia

If Abhishek Sharma is fit for the next game against Namibia, he gets to take his favourite opening slot, and in such a scenario, Sanju Samson might replace Kishan at the top of the order. The Kerala batter had a lengthy net session on Tuesday, and could be called up to replace Kishan.

However, if both Kishan and Abhishek are unable, then in such circumstances, Samson will slot in at the top to replace Abhishek, and Washington Sundar could be added in the playing XI to replace Kishan, as India doesn’t have any other batter warming the bench.

List of injuries/health issues for Team India

With India taking on Namibia on Thursday, the team has plenty of injury/health-related issues in the squad. Star opener Abhishek Sharma is unwell as the batter was suffering from an upset stomach, and he was also admitted to the hospital on Monday.

Even though Abhishek was discharged on Wednesday, Team India might not risk him for the Namibia clash as the Men in Blue need him for the Pakistan clash.

Jasprit Bumrah, India’s key pacer, also missed the previous match vs the USA due to a high fever, and while he has also recovered from the illness, the team management is careful with his workload.

Last, but not least, Washington Sundar had a left-side rib strain, and the all-rounder, too, missed the USA clash. However, he is fit and raring to go, and could be slotted in the playing XI Vs Namibia.
