Bhuvneshwar Kumar in India vs New Zealand - (Source: AFP)
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s return to Indian cricket has not gone exactly as per plans. The right-arm seamer has struggled in the three matches against New Zealand. The 36-year-old, who returned to the side after 4 years, has just a solitary wicket in three matches.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has leaked 40+ runs in all three matches and is facing immense criticism for his performance. Following the 3rd T20I, the RCB star addressed the press, where he reiterated that he would return to domestic cricket to find rhythm.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar Confirms Commitment For Domestic Tournaments
During the post-match presentation, Bhuvi was asked about his plans and ODI return. In reply, the right-arm seamer replied that he is not thinking too far away, but he will feature in Vijay Hazare Trophy.
“I am not thinking too far ahead. I am happy with what I am getting. Of course, I will play domestic cricket, whether it is Vijay Hazare or Mushtaq Ali. I mean, I’m looking forward to that,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar remarked.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar opens up on the game controlled by batters
It was a one-sided affair in Wellington as India chased down 199 runs in just 13 overs. Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stitched a 118-run stand within the powerplay that took the game away from the Kiwis. Bhuvi opined on the matter and stated that bowlers still control the game.
“I still believe that a bowler can control the game. The reason is that we bowlers feed the ball. The bowler can bowl where he wants to, and after that, it’s the batsman’s choice. Good bowlers are still doing well and are consistent,” he added.
Time Running Out For Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar didn’t speak on his form, but it seems that time is running out for the 36-year-old. Mayank Yadav has been sitting out on the bench, and given Gambhir’s nature, Kumar is expected to be given the remaining two matches to prove himself.
If the RCB star fails to take wickets in the last 2 games as well, then he might lose the opportunity for an ODI comeback as well.
