BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla has clapped back at Mohsin Naqvi and PCB for their unnecessary intervention in the India-Bangladesh matter. He stated that Pakistan is needlessly trying to provoke Bangladesh and has misled the nation ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.

On Saturday, Bangladesh was officially replaced by Scotland in the T20 World Cup after the Bangladesh government refused to let their team travel to India, citing security threats, which was eventually deemed untrue by the ICC.

Rajiv Shukla slams Naqvi for provoking Bangladesh

In the matter involving India and Bangladesh, Pakistan interfered and poked its nose as it criticised the ICC for replacing Bangladesh in the marquee event. Naqvi also threatened to boycott the T20 World Cup as Pakistan reportedly stands with Bangladesh.

The PCB has also urged ICC to consider a hybrid model for Bangladesh, and this infuriated Shukla, who slammed Naqvi for intervening in someone else’s matter as he bashed the neighbours for misleading the Bangladesh team.

“Pakistan is intervening in the matter without any reason and provoking Bangladesh… Everyone knows the brutality done by Pakistan on the Bangladeshis, and now they are trying to mislead them, which is completely wrong…,” Shukla said on Monday to ANI.

“We wanted Bangladesh to play and we also assured full security, but since they have made this decision, it is very difficult to change the entire schedule at the last moment. This is why Scotland was brought in..,” he added.

PCB threatening to boycott T20 World Cup

The Pakistan side revealed its squad for the T20 World Cup on Sunday, but there is no guarantee of their participation in the marquee event. Their member of the selection panel and former player, Aaqib Javed, revealed that they will wait for the government’s decision and might not play in the World Cup if that is in the best interest of Pakistan.

“We are selectors, and our job is to pick the team. We've announced the team very close to the deadline. The government will decide on our participation, so I can say nothing on that front. That's what the chairman has said, too, so we'll wait for their decision.” Javed stated.

The PCB also has its plan B ready. If they somehow decide to take part in the T20 World Cup, then they are planning to boycott the India clash, as they feel this would be a loss-making thing for the BCCI and the ICC.

Consequences Pakistan could face if they boycott World Cup

If Pakistan indeed decides to pull out of the T20 World Cup at the last moment, the team could face severe ICC consequences. The ICC could impose sanctions, and this may include suspension of all bilateral series, exclusion from the Asia Cup, and denial of NOC for overseas players to take part in the PSL.

“If Pakistan also decides not to play the T20 World Cup, the ICC will impose a series of sanctions, including no bilateral series with any international team, no NOC for foreign players in PSL, and no Asia Cup participation,” a source told Indian Express.
