Bangladesh top-order batter Parvez Hossain Emon is currently in race against time to attain full recovery ahead of his team’s upcoming home T20I series against New Zealand. It is worth noting that the 23-year-old recently sustained an injury on his right shoulder while playing for the Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars franchise in PSL 2026.
Emon’s injury has already ruled him out of Bangladesh’s three-match ODI series squad against New Zealand, as the cricketer prepares himself to get in shape for the T20Is.

After Emon returned to the country from Pakistan earlier this month, the physio said that the cricketer will take approximately three weeks for recovery. Bayjedul also added that the top-order batter has already begun a “structured rehabilitation programme” under the supervision of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical and coaching staff.
How did Parvez Hossain Emon suffer his injury
On April 3, Parvez Hossain Emon suffered an injury on his right shoulder while fielding for the Lahore Qalandars during their PSL 2026 match against Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. A few days later, the cricketer was ruled out of the remainder of the tournament.
Last weekend, the Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars franchise named Sri Lanka's ODI captain Charith Asalanka as a replacement for injured Emon.
Why is Emon important for Bangladesh’s T20Is vs New Zealand
Parvez Hossain Emon holds a staggering T20 strike rate of nearly 130 in his 93-match career. In his 30 T20Is for Bangladesh, the elegant left-handed batter has scored 607 runs at a strike rate of 130.25 with a hundred and three half-centuries.
During his short stint with the Lahore Qalandars in PSL 2026, the 23-year-old made 71 runs in three innings at an astonishing strike rate of 161.36. In his last match itself, the cricketer blasted 45 off just 19 balls with five sixes against Multan Sultans.
Bangladesh name ODI squad for NZ series, T20I line-up pending
Earlier this month, the BCB named Bangladesh’s 15-player squad for the first two matches of the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Senior fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was included in the team, thus halting his PSL 2026 journey for the Lahore Qalandars.
Experienced batters Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto will be forming the middle-order of the Mehidy Hasan Miraz-led side. Here is a look at the entire Bangladesh squad for the ODI series.
Bangladesh squad for two ODIs vs New Zealand
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (capt), Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hassan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das (wk), Afif Hossain, Mahidul Islam, Rishad Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana.
While the BCB has announced Bangladesh’s ODI squad, the board will be expected to unveil the team’s T20I line-up within the coming days. The T20I series between Bangladesh and New Zealand will be played between April 27 and May 2, thus giving an injured Parvez Hossain Emon plenty of time to attain full recovery.
