Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered a major setback in IPL 2026, as one of their key bowling options from the overseas contingent has been ruled out of the entire tournament. The development came less than 24 hours after the thumping win they secured against table-toppers Rajasthan Royals at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
The Orange Army has also named the replacement for the player who will not be available to participate in IPL 2026.
Brydon Carse Out Of IPL 2026; SRH Bring In Dilshan Madushanka
Brydon Carse, who was retained by SRH for INR 1 crore ahead of IPL 2026 auction, will not participate in the ongoing edition for Pat Cummins and his boys. Carse picked up a hand injury prior to the IPL 2026 opener between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and SRH, and did not take part in the competition since then.
Now, an IPL media release confirmed that he has been ruled out of the entire season, with Sri Lanka’s speedster Dilshan Madushanka named as his replacement.
Dilshan Madushanka will get a contract from SRH worth INR 75 lakh, as IPL confirmed the development in the same media release.

Who Is Dilshan Madushanka?
Dilshan Madushanka is a quite popular Sri Lankan pacer, who was previously part of the IPL. He was with Mumbai Indians, as the five-time IPL champions roped him in for IPL 2024 at a whopping price of INR 4.60 crore.
Unfortunately, Madushanka has not got any game time in IPL thus far. Now, he will have Sri Lanka’s teammate Eshan Malinga at the SRH nets.
Malinga, meanwhile, has been a regular player for SRH this season, with Pat Cummins, their full-time captain, still looking for a comeback after injury woes.
A Look At Dilshan Madushanka's Numbers
Now aged 25, Dilshan Madushanka has played 63 T20s so far across different teams in different places. He has got 61 wickets, at an economy rate of 9.11.
For Sri Lanka, Madushanka has played 19 T20Is and picked up 20 scalps at an economy rate of 9.36. His ODI numbers are more impressive, with 50 wickets in just 28 50-over matches speaking volumes.
Along with that, Madushanka has also played a Test match for Sri Lanka.
How Are SRH Performing In IPL 2026?
SRH, under the leadership of Ishan Kishan, are having a mixed season so far in IPL 2026. Even though they are currently fourth on the points table, they have already played five matches in the competition, with two wins and three defeats.
Nevertheless, SRH showed their potential against table-toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 21 of IPL 2026. They left the high-flying RR batting attack reeling, reducing them 9/5 at one point.
Two IPL debutants, Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, breathed fire against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, among others, getting four wickets each, while Madushanka’s countryman, Eshan Malinga, had two wickets.
