Bangladesh changes schedule for New Zealand series [Source: AP]
After the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), it appears that the energy crisis has now struck Bangladesh. For instance, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has recently announced a major re-scheduling of Bangladesh’s upcoming white-ball series against the visiting New Zealand team.
As per reports, the BCB has made the necessary adjustments in a bid to save energy, which would have been consumed by the use of stadium floodlights as per the original itinerary.
Bangladesh vs New Zealand series hit by energy crisis, schedule changed
Amidst the prevailing West Asia conflict, the BCB has decided to change the schedule of Bangladesh’s upcoming white-ball fixtures against the New Zealand team. While all six matches will be played on the same dates as originally intended, the fixtures will now have an earlier start in a bid to avoid using stadium floodlights, all to save energy.
As per the original schedule, the three ODI matches were slated to commence from 1:30 PM IST onwards in Mirpur and Chattogram between April 17 and April 23. The ODIs will now start from 11:00 AM on match days.
Similarly, each of the three T20I matches of the series will start from 2:00 PM onwards. Here is a look at the revamped schedule of New Zealand’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh this month.

Bangladesh follows Pakistan model amid war-climate
Last month, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also made the major announcement of denouncing its original PSL 2026 schedule, and re-organizing the tournament to be played behind closed doors. Moreover, the board also confirmed that the entire PSL 2026 season will only be played in two different stadiums, i.e., in Lahore and Karachi.
The PCB made the confirmation in a bid to reduce public movement and ensure safety, and they compensated all franchises for lost ticket revenue. Moreover, the decision was also made in light of the severe fuel shortage in Pakistan arising from the prevailing West Asia conflict.
Much like Pakistan, Bangladesh too has been compelled to recalibrate its cricketing itinerary in response to the broader energy constraints.
New Zealand name squad for Bangladesh tour
In any case, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has already announced New Zealand’s ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh. In the absence of IPL bound Mitchell Santner, wicketkeeper-batter and Test skipper Tom Latham is set to lead New Zealand in both formats.
The board also confirmed that Matt Fisher and Blair Tickner will both be making their returns to New Zealand squads following their injury recovery. Here is a look at the entire New Zealand squads for the two series in Bangladesh.
