Mustafizur Rahman will not be able to re-join his Lahore Qalandars teammates back in Pakistan for the remainder of the PSL 2026 season. It is worth noting that the senior Bangladesh fast bowler played five matches for the Qalandars franchise this tournament, before flying back to Bangladesh for the ODI series against New Zealand.

Since Rahman was also nursing an injury around this time, the speedster was excluded from the Bangladesh playing XI for the first two home ODIs. On his return to the national team, the senior pro picked up match-winning bowling figures of 5-43 as Bangladesh seized the three-match series 2-1.

Mustafizur Rahman denied Lahore Qalandars reunion for THIS reason

As reported by Cricbuzz on Thursday, April 23, Mustafizur Rahman will not be able to re-join the Lahore Qalandars franchise for the ongoing PSL 2026 season. The senior Bangladesh fast bowler just had his No Objection Certificate (NoC) cancelled by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on medical grounds.

Rahman played five matches for the Qalandars up until earlier this month, before the 30-year-old was forced to link up with the national squad in Bangladesh for the ODI series against New Zealand. However, despite leaving PSL 2026 midway, the cricketer was kept out of Bangladesh’s playing XI for the first two ODIs owing to his injury concerns.

Last week, the injury even raised concerns about his future PSL 2026 availability for the Qalandars, with many raising questions if the speedster will be able to reprise his role in the Pakistani tournament this season.

Rahman makes his Bangladesh return like a champion

Amid the injury concerns that kept him out of the earlier phase of the ODI series, Mustafizur Rahman made it to the Bangladesh playing XI in the series-deciding final ODI against New Zealand on Thursday, April 23.

The speedster picked up exceptional bowling figures of 5-43 in his nine overs as Bangladesh folded up New Zealand for just 210 to secure a comprehensive 55-run win.

Despite making a champion return to the national team, Rahman was rested by the BCB for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand, as the board is aiming to keep him fit for next month’s all-important home fixtures against the Pakistan team.

Nahid Rana also rested by BCB, to not re-join Peshawar Zalmi

Fellow Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana also faced a similar fate by the BCB upon returning to his home country following his brief PSL 2026 stint for the Peshawar Zalmi franchise.

After playing four matches for the Zalmi, Rana took part in Bangladesh’s three-match home ODI series against New Zealand, picking up seven wickets to win the ‘Player of the Series’ award.

However, the 23-year-old was also excluded by the BCB from the impending T20I series against the same opponent, as the board is planning to keep him fresh for the two-match home Test series against Pakistan in May.
