Despite missing out on the upcoming world event, Zimbabwe will look to compete and put some strong performances, while Pakistan looks to prepare for the competition.
On Wednesday afternoon, with the series just weeks away, Zimbabwe Cricket took to their social media accounts and the official website to announce a 15-member squad for the tour. This includes a lot of fresh faces and a few known ones as they look to embark on a new cycle starting from this series.
Pakistan set to host Zimbabwe in a historic series
In the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup in England, which begins in June, Pakistan are slotted in Group A alongside India, Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh and the Netherlands. As they look to get ready for the 12-team tournament, they will play Zimbabwe in three ODIs and three T20Is at home.
This is going to be the first time that Zimbabwe will tour Pakistan for any international women's series. Previously, the two teams have never faced each other in any T20I. Their only encounter in internationals so far has come in Zimbabwe in the World Cup Qualifiers, 2021.

The Zimbabwe Women's team will be led by the left-arm pace bowler, Nomvelo Sibanda, who has played 23 WODIs and 60 WT20Is and has 16 and 54 wickets in the respective formats.
As revealed by the Zimbabwe Women's techincal director for the tour, Steve Mangongo, having missed out on the T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe is looking to rebuild from scratch, hence, justifying the selection of 10 new faces in the squad.
"Zimbabwe has taken a significant step into FTP cricket and it’s important that we expose young talent to the international stage while broadening our player base. We took a hard, honest look at where we are after missing out on qualification in Nepal for the Women’s T20 World Cup," he said.
"This is the right time to rebuild and to integrate emerging talent. We now have a broader pool to work with as we look ahead to the FTP and upcoming qualifiers," he further added.
