With the IPL set to be over on May 31, the focus will now shift towards the international schedule, and the first major series will take place between the hosts India and the touring Afghanistan side. The two teams will lock horns in a one-off Test, followed by three ODIs.
With the 50-overs World Cup in 2027, the ODI tour provides both sides a great chance to test their bench strength and team combination, and the Tests will give Afghanistan exposure against a quality international side.
The BCCI has already revealed India’s squads for both the Test match, and the ODI series, and now, the Afghans have also announced a strong side for the gruelling away tour of India.

Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead both the teams (ODIs and Test) as the Afghans will aim to cause an upset, at least in the ODIs. The player has been going through a lean patch, but the management would hope that captaincy would bring the best out of him against India.
One surprising decision in Afghanistan's squad for India tour was to pick Azmatullah Omarzai in the Tests. He has been injury-prone, and it was expected that the management would only see him as a valuable asset in white-ball cricket.
