India Women’s stars will take centre stage at the Caribbean Premier League 2026 after four of them were swooped by franchises for its fifth season commencing on Sunday, September 6.
This includes one of the WPL 2026 winners, Pooja Vastrakar, who is eyeing a comeback into the Indian setup, having last played for the Women in Blue in 2024. She will be joined by three other high-profile players, bolstering India’s participation in the Caribbean.

On Friday evening, the squads for the upcoming WCPL season were finalised through drafts, where the sides were allowed to sign up to five overseas players into their roster.
Using up two of their five-player quota, all-rounder Pooja Vastarkar and Kiran Navgire were signed by the defending champions, Barbados Tridents. The Tridents also have the New Zealand duo of the legendary Suzie Bates and Madeline Green among their overseas stars.
Additionally, the Trinbago Knight Riders have confirmed the services of Shikha Pandey, who last represented India in 2023 and wicketkeeper batter Yastika Bhatia for the season. They will be joined by South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp and the Australian duo of Laura Harris and Madeline Penna in the overseas contingent.

Indians to have previously featured in WCPL
Unlike the Indian Men’s cricketers, who are allowed to play IPL exclusively, India Women’s players have had the liberty to play T20 leagues around the world to hone their skills and keep up with the international standards.
We often see the likes of Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur in high demand in The Hundred and the WBBL. But similar has been the case with India Women’s participation in the WCPL.
In 2023, Shreyanka Patil became the first Indian to play in the WCPL during their second season. Similarly, Shikha Pandey has been a regular feature in the league and will play her third season in 2026. Jemimah Rodrigues also played a solitary season in 2024.

How have Indians fared in WCPL?
The Caribbean conditions can sometimes be challenging for the subcontinent players to rock up and immediately make their presence felt.
However, off-spinner and WPL winner Shreyanka Patil has already created some impact in the league. During her maiden season, she helped her team, Guyana Amazon Warriors, finish runner-up, with 9 wickets in 5 matches. This includes 1/24 in the final. She has 10 wickets in 10 matches at the tournament so far.
The experienced Shikha Pandey is a one-time finalist with Trinbago Knight Riders and has picked up 9 wickets in 9 matches across two seasons. She has also scored 128 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 95.52 in her time in the league.
Salonee Dangore played her only season in 2025 and picked two wickets in four matches, while Jemimah Rodrigues scored 105 runs in 5 matches at 108.24 in 2024.
