Several Indian players have been sidelined with injuries over the past few months. Among them were Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana, apart from prominent figures like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.
Amidst the India tour of Sri Lanka, the Indian camp is said to be very close to receiving some good news around the progress of these star players. The Indian management is eyeing a full-strength roster for the upcoming crammed schedule, which also includes a high-profile tour of New Zealand.
Nitish Kumar Reddy close to full fitness
Nitish Kumar Reddy is currently India’s biggest hope as a pace-bowling all-rounder in overseas conditions. Especially after he worked on his fast bowling with famous coach Steffan Jones. However, the last year or so has been troublesome for him regarding injuries.
Currently, Reddy is at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru after suffering a left quadriceps injury in June during the Afghanistan ODI series, due to which he was withdrawn from the ODI and T20I squads for the England and Ireland tour earlier in the summer.
To India’s respite, Revsportz’s sources have revealed that the 23-year-old is likely to be given a green light to return to action for the Men in Blue 'very soon'.
Having already gone through a side strain, knee injury and neck spasms before this quadraceps struggles, Nitish Kumar Reddy is among the players who are close to the all-format set-up. He will be central to India's plans for the 2027 World Cup, which is to be played in Africa.

Harshit Rana’s recovery on track
Alongside the all-rounder, Harshit Rana is another player who is at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. After he missed the T20 World Cup and IPL 2026 due to a serious knee injury, Rana had returned to the T20I team during the Ireland tour, where he suffered another blow — this time to the hamstring.
His Grade 1 hamstring injury is said to be a result of gaining weight during his knee recovery over the past few months. However, the same report now suggests that Harshit Rana’s recovery is also well on track and he could regain his full fitness very soon.
Despite first breaking into the Test team, Harshit Rana is one of the first names on the team sheet in white-ball cricket. Before his injury, he had shown glimpses of improvement in his batting, with a fifty during New Zealand’s tour of India in January and a quick-fire 21 against Ireland on his return.
He played three T20Is in England before returning home due to the hamstring issue, missing the entire ODI series, followed by the Sri Lanka Tests.
Who are the other Indian players recovering from injuries?
The year 2026 has been tough on a lot of Indian stars. Both the international and domestic schedules have been challenging, and hence a lot of players who are central to the team have suffered various injuries.
Hardik Pandya was expected to return to ODI cricket from the England series onwards but sustained a couple of injuries after the IPL, ruling him out for an extended period. Similarly, Jasprit Bumrah had to be given injections to his troubling knee and was ruled out of the Sri Lanka series, as he wasn’t able to bowl at full tilt.
