Popular entertainment website, IMDb, has now formulated a list of some of the greatest Indian Premier League (IPL) matches of all time. The list surfaced online in the middle of the ongoing IPL 2026 season in India.
The website placed as many as three IPL finals in its top five, and the league’s historic double Super Over thriller between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) at number six.
IMDb ranks five best IPL matches of all time
IMDb, prominently known for databasing information related to movies, television series, streaming content and video games; has now ranked some of the greatest IPL matches of all time.
The website placed the IPL 2019 final match between Mumbai Indians and CSK at number one on its ranking. The match saw a Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians side clinching its fourth IPL title by overcoming the ‘Yellow Brigade’ by a mere run, courtesy of a tight Jasprit Bumrah spell and a sizzing Kieron Pollard cameo.

Rinku Singh hitting five sixes off the final five balls to win it for KKR against Gujarat Titans in match 13 of the IPL 2023 season found its way at number two on the list.
The high-stakes final league match of the IPL 2014 season between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, in which the former chased down 190 in just 14.4 overs to book a place in the playoffs, was ranked number three.
Mumbai Indians winning its third IPL title by edging out Rising Pune Supergiants by a run in the IPL 2017 final was ranked fourth. It was followed by another IPL final at number five, the one where the CSK pulled off a last-ball heist against then defending champions Gujarat Titans in 2023 to lift their fifth title.
Double Super Over, Chris Gayle’s 175 and inaugural final among top 10
IPL’s lone double Super Over to date, the one played between Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Mumbai Indians back in 2020, was ranked sixth on the list.
At seventh, IMDb ranked the high-scoring roller-coaster between SRH and RCB from IPL 2024. The match was followed by Rajasthan Royals’ thrilling win over CSK to lift the inaugural IPL title in 2008.
Another match from IPL 2008 made it to the list, the one where a Yuvraj Singh-led KXIP pipped Mumbai Indians by a run. Chris Gayle’s murderous 175 against Pune Warriors India that led RCB’s historic 130-run win capped the top 10 list.
As of April 9, the entertainment website has so far ranked the top 43 IPL matches of all time.
Rajasthan Royals on top of IPL 2026 table
In terms of the ongoing IPL 2026 season, unbeaten Rajasthan Royals continue to remain at the top of the points table with three wins in three matches. They are followed by Punjab Kings at number two, and defending champions RCB at number three.
KKR and CSK franchises have yet to register a single win so far in the tournament.
