In high-scoring clashes of this kind, one has to take note of the bowlers who make a difference. Sahil Bhaskar stood head and shoulders above the lot today, bowling the spell of his life. With the momentum stacked against them, Salil Arora tossed him the ball, and he delivered in stellar fashion. The Jalandhar Warriors will rue some of the phases in the game for sure - the way they bowled at the death, and the first ten deliveries of the run-chase in particular. While they were in the hunt going into the last quarter of the run-chase, Bhaskar stood in front of them like a wall, the Warriors collided and fell. Taking nothing away from them, though - the Jalandhar Warriors have shown immense promise throughout the tournament; Aryan Yadav and Emanjot Singh Chahal have been standout performers for them, and the members of their squad sure will take the lessons going into the domestic cricket season.
Sahil Bhaskar (Player of the Match): (What is he feeling right now?) "To be honest, I don't have any words right now. It couldn't be more special for me. I would just like to say that these are the blessings of Mahadev that I am enjoying. To win the match for my team with such a spell is something I will remember for a lifetime. And my job is not finished yet. I have to help my team win the trophy, so I hope I can produce another such spell in the final as well.
(On his background and how he started playing cricket) I am originally from Rajasthan, so I started playing cricket there. I played age-group cricket there, then I switched for some reasons, and I have been pursuing cricket from here [Punjab] for quite some time. Things have been going well here. This year has been very good for me, so I am really enjoying this time.
(On what was going through his mind during the three-wicket over) More than that over, what was going through my mind was that I had to win the game for my team. I wanted to bowl as many dot balls as I could, control my nerves, and focus on the process, without taking too much pressure. But I will gain confidence only when I win such matches, and going forward, these things will be good for both my team and me.
(On learning from senior bowlers in the Sher-e-Punjab League) I keep learning from everyone. From the first match until now, I have learned a lot of things, and I am also working on them. I am not perfect in many things yet, but I am developing certain aspects and working on my execution, controlling my nerves, and winning pressure matches. I have learned all these things from many seniors. I keep asking them questions and talking to them, and that benefits me a lot."
