With this defeat, Mohali Kings' journey in this league has come to an end. They looked lacklustre in this semi-final. A big setback for them after all they finished on top of the league stage points table.

Amritsar have booked their place in the final. Their Sunday opponent will be decided by the winner of the second semi-final match, which will be played between Ludhiana Lions and Jalandhar Warriors in the evening.

That's it from the first semi-final of the inaugural edition of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League. Amritsar Soormas register a victory by seven wickets and complete the chase inside 17 overs. A big credit goes to their skipper Naman Dhir for making this look super easy, thanks to his brilliant knock of 91 runs off 37 balls. He was also well supported by Abhay Choudhary, who remained unbeaten at 48 off 38 balls.

Naman Dhir (Amritsar Soormas Captain & POTM): "(On reaching the finals) As I said in the last match, we are peaking at the right time, and our bowlers have shown that. It was a good wicket and a good batting lineup, so restricting them to 170 on this wicket was, I guess, very good. After that, I guess it becomes the batters’ game. You just have to bat ball by ball, and that’s it. The atmosphere is very positive right now, and I hope we play the same way in the final as well.

(Change of approach in the last three-four games) Sir, we’ve had a lot of discussions in the dressing room about what plans we can make as individual players and what plans we can make according to our strengths. So, I guess this is all part of the planning, and that’s why our bowling has come together as a unit.

The plan was simply to go in and keep bowling cutters and slower balls. That was the plan today because, as we all know, Anmolpreet is a very dominant player on the leg side, and one side of the boundary is also bigger. So, the plan today was that if we bowl according to our plans towards the bigger boundary and he hits us for a four or a six, that’s not a problem. But we don’t want to bowl to his strengths.

(On not making a century) Sir, what hurt was that I couldn’t finish the match. It didn’t hurt that I missed the hundred. I guess I would have been much happier if I had finished the match.

(About preparation ahead of a big match) If I have a day off, I’ll do some extra batting or something. I like to stay fresh. The fresher I can be before a match, the better."
