Arriving for the chase of 140 run target, Amit Sathvik and Akash Sumra opened the batting for the Spartans. Both players started off in a rollicking mode and extracted some quick boundaries. They lost two wickets inside the powerplay but the runs were coming in good pace.
Kaushik Gandhi arrived at no. 4 and grafted the chase phenomenally. There were brisk assistance in the middle but the one man who stood tall was the experienced Kaushik Gandhi.
The TNPL veteran went on to score 52 off 32 balls and looked to be in a hurry at the cusp of the innings. He bludgeoned sixes on trot to narrow the deficit in quick time and helped his side go over the line.
G Godson and impact sub, K Easwaran were the two successful bowlers for the Trichy side as they bagged three-fer and two-fer respectively.
Earlier, the Trichy side won the toss and opted to bat first. They withstood a lot of wickets inside the powerplay which included mainstays such as Ganga Sridhar Raju, Jafar Jamal, and Francis Rokins.
Sunny Sandhu and Abhishek Tanwar were brilliant with the bowl; the latter extracted a maiden over inside the field restrictions as well.
There was a patchy stand recorded between Mani Bharathi and Anthony Das and was followed up with a quickfire 15 off 7 balls from R Rajkumar. Eventually, they could only manage 139 runs on the board which seemed an easy peasy job for the Spartans.
