That brings an end to our coverage for this game. Do switch tabs as India take on Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval. This is me, Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Arijit Kundu and scorer Paras Yadav. Tata. Bye bye.
Scott Edwards | Netherlands Skipper: "Feels awesome. We came here to win some games in the Super 12s. So happy to get a win. The bowlers have been brilliant for us and the top four batters have been good. Max has been sensational for the last 4-5 years and is a match-winner for us."
Craig Ervine | Zimbabwe Skipper: "To begin with, the surface was a bit sticky. It was one of those days where you are happy to lose the toss so that you don’t have to choose. But credit to the Netherlands for the way they bowled. Raza and Williams fought hard and brought us back in the game but it wasn’t enough as the Dutch side got across the line."
Max O'Dowd | Player of the Match: "I was scratchy at the start of my innings. It was important to adapt to the conditions as their bowlers were tall and they extracted extra bounce off the surface. I'm happy that I adapted and batted as long as possible."
Player of the Match: Max O'Dowd
Akshay | 12:43 PM IST:A convincing
performance from the Netherlands as they beat Zimbabwe by five wickets to
register their first win of the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022. The
bowlers set up the win by knocking over Zimbabwe on 117 before a well-composed
fifty from Max O’Dowd helped them chase down the total comfortably. Chasing
118, the Netherlands lost their swashbuckling opener Stephan Myburgh in the
fourth over. Max O’Dowd struggled against the new ball but he stood his ground
and put away the loose balls. The Dutch side got off to a steady start to their
chase as they scored 35 at the end of the powerplay. O’Dowd along with Tom
Cooper built a solid partnership for the second wicket as they kept Zimbabwe at
bay. The pair of O’Dowd and Cooper kept the required run rate under control. Both were going nicely before Cooper holed out in the deep on 32 as the 73-run stand came to an end in the 13th over. Colin Ackermann departed in the next over but O’Dowd stood tall against Zimbabwe as he brought up his fifty. He fell on 52 as he couldn’t stay till the end. Scott Edwards was dismissed on 5 but Bas de Leede remained unbeaten on 12 to complete the formalities as the Netherlands got across the line with two overs to spare. Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani picked up two wickets each for Zimbabwe but they failed to defend the total. Earlier in the day, Zimbabwean skipper Craig Ervine won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision backfired as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay. They were reeling at 20/3 at the end of the powerplay. With their back against the wall, the experienced campaigners in Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams stood tall and led the recovery work. They started counter-attacking and pounced on anything loose. The Dutch side bounced back in the game by dismissing Williams on 28 as the 48-run stand came to an end. Raza played some wonderful strokes but departed on 40 in the 15th over. The lower-order batters failed to contribute as there was a collapse in the end as they got bundled out on 117 in 19.2 overs. Paul van Meekeren starred with the ball for the Netherlands as he finished with figures of 3/29 in his four overs. The batters then stepped up and chased down the total in 18 overs to grab their first win of the Super 12 stage of the competition.

4 FOURRRRRRR!! Finally, the winnings runs for Netherlands, and its Bas de Leede who thumps it over the umpire for a boundary. Quicker one near the off and the batter reaches the pitch of the ball and strikes up and over, down the ground for a boundary.

0 Short and around the off. Bas de Leede swings and misses.
