That brings an end to our coverage for this game. A tame end to this fixture. This is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of scorer Paras Yadav. Until next time, cheers and goodbye.
Umpires Ben Treloar and Simon Lightbody speaking to the broadcasters: "The last delivery we saw behaved quite dangerously. We had a discussion and it was deemed dangerous to play. When we started, we had a look at the pitch. We decided to play on it as we were hopeful of it becoming better as the game progresses. But it wasn’t the case and it got worsen. We have got the process in these tough situations. We had to take the time and discuss before calling it off."
2:35 PM, 8:05 PM Local Time: The decision has been made. The match has been abandoned due to a dangerous pitch. Both sides share a point each. Players from both sides shake hands. How rare is this? Match being called off due to an unsafe pitch.

Only 6.5 overs were possible tonight. There was some variable bounce right from the start of the match and the ball behaved dangerously as the game progressed. The match officials discussed with both captains and Cricket Australia representative before calling off the match.
2:30 PM IST, 8 PM Local Time: The match referee walks out and calls both the captains in the changing room. A decision might just be around the corner.
Nic Maddinson speaking to the broadcasters said that the safety of the players must be the first priority. Aaron Finch says that everyone wants to go on and play but it's quite unfortunate that there was some heavy rain yesterday and we can't do anything about it. The former Australian skipper accepts that it is quite a dangerous pitch to bat on.
2:24 PM IST, 7:54 PM Local Time: Maddinson, Turner and Voges walk out of the room after having a discussion with the umpires. The umpires are having a chat among themselves in the changing room along with a representative of Cricket Australia.
2:20 PM IST, 7:50 PM Local Time: Both the on-field umpires and the match referee walk out towards the dugout of both teams. Nic Maddinson, Renegades' skipper has been called to discuss something. Scorchers' skipper Turner joins them and they had in the dressing room. Renegades head coach Adam Voges also walks with them. The players from both sides are waiting on the sidelines. Some of them are giving autographs to the fans.
Hardie has a chat with the umpire about the condition of the pitch. Hardie thinks that the pitch is dangerous for batting. Both the on-field umpires are having a chat. They ask the players to go off. Finch, Richardson and Rogers are having a look at the pitch. The on-field umpires are having a chat with curator. The match referee walks out to the middle and join the discussion.

Remember, the pitch was covered till morning because of the rain and maybe, the groundsmen didn't have enough time to prepare it. An odd-ball is holding a bit and seaming. Not a good sign for any batter. Nic Maddinson, Renegades' skipper, speaking to the broadcasters suggest that the pitch is not safe for batting.
6.5 W Sutherland to J Inglis
0 Length delivery outside off and seams away, Inglis throws his hands at it as he looks to lift it over covers but gets beaten on the outside edge. The ball held a bit on the surface as well and de Kock was surprised after collecting it.
6.4 W Sutherland to J Inglis
0 Dropped!!! Sutherland with a back of a length delivery on the stumps and Inglis looks to defend it off the backfoot but gets an inside edge. de Kock behind the stumps dives to his left to get a hand to it but fails to hold onto it.
