HAM vs SUS, 43rd T20, T20 Blast 2023 summary

1:52 AM IST: An outstanding ten-wicket victory for the hosts Hampshire as they pummel down the Sussex Sharks in the T20 Blast encounter. Ben McDermott (69*) and James Vince (71*) remained unbeaten till the end and finished the game with 31 balls remaining.

A fantastic team bowling and fielding effort had ensured Sussex were dismissed for 144 in the first innings. Opener Tom Clark top scored with 36 and Fynn Hudson-Price scored unbeaten 31 at the end to push Sussex to this score as Liam Dawson (2/18) drained the runs and picked up a couple of wickets alongside Scott Currie (2/25) to peg down the visitors.

The chase did not begin as the Hants would have wanted as the first 2 overs went for just a single but the openers then got in the groove and hit the ball wherever they wanted sharing 14 fours and six sixes amongst them with both McDermott and Vince clearing the fence on three occasions each.

James Vince continued his great run of form from the season and scored yet another half-century on the back of a ton scored in the previous game and a couple of unbeaten knocks for 88. This is Hants' third victory of the season.

Aristides Karvelas was the only bowler with a brilliant economy rate of 5.64 as every other bowler was hammered to all parts of the ground including the overseas recruit Shadab Khan conceding 32 in his 3 overs. Sussex were playing without their skipper Ravi Bopara and rested Tymal Mills for this encounter and have lost 2 out of 4 games this season.
