Vatsal: A complete performance by Essex Eagles tonight who put into bat 1st scored 198 for 7 with scores from Walter, Pepper, and Captain Harmer and 4 wickets to Surrey quick R Topley.
Surrey in reply never really got into the chase, they lost Roy early, Smith, Jacks, and Burns tried to steady the ship with decent partnerships but each of them got out at the wrong time. Captain C Jordan at the end hit some lusty blows to end with 34 off 17 balls to reduce the margin of defeat but the score was really big for them to chase since none of the batters got going. The Essex bowlers were terrific throughout with A Beard leading the way with 4 wickets for 29 and were ably supported by Harmer who picked up 2 for 20 off his 4 overs with Sams, Cook and Lawrence chipped in with a wicket a piece. A complete performance nonetheless by Essex Eagles over Surrey.
