Scotland top the charts in the Tri-Nation series points table currently. Its a great morale boost for them ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. They earn back-to-back victories and will get a time off as Netherlands and Bangladesh square off tomorrow.
That's it from this coverage. Time to take leave -- Arijit Kundu signing off along with co-commentator Saptak Sanyal and scorer Ashok Dayma. Toodles!đââī¸đââī¸
Kathryn Bryce (Scotland Women Captain): "[On not getting upset for missing out on Player of the Match] Yeah I know actually fantastic, the way she [Gabriella Fontenla] carried on herself it was fantastic. [On the thought process in this chase] At any moment, we knew that we were ready to get back on the bowlers in a pitch like this.
[Everyone seemed well drilled] Absolutely brilliant the way people was backing each one in the field, and good to see them covering up and give their best.
[On performance and break] Yeah, not too much, but it's great to contribute for the team. It's been fantastic to see everyone here, yeah, just kinda reset ,take some time off, rest, and keep things simple. Thank you very much."
Nigar Sultana Joty (Bangladesh Women Captain): "(On the tough introduction in Scotland) Yes it is a tough for us. Initially we didn't get runs in the powerplay and that cost us.
(What made Gabriella so difficult?) She bowled in the right areas. The movement was both in and out and that made things tough.
(What this tri-series mean to you?) I think it is a very good opportunity for us to prepare ourselves. I think we should take all these chances to prepare ourselves ahead of the world cup.
(On the tomorrow's game) We just want to bounce back tomorrow."
Gabriella Fontenla (Player of the Match): "(What clicked for you today?) I think everything. Bowling in right areas clicked and playing in front of home crowd is a different experience altogether.
(Did you expect to bowl all four overs straight?) No I was not. I kept coming back. Yes surprising at times but happy.
(On the health issue prior to this game and coming back to play the game) It feels great to be honest. It is amazing to see how far the things have come along and it worked that way. The coaches helped me and they are like a family. It is hard to get over that. I am really proud of everything so far.
Player of the Match: Gabriella Fontenla
Time for the post-match presentations.
9:18 PM IST and 4:48 PM Local Time: The rain follows the Scotland victory in Edinburgh but no dampening in the Scottish dugout. The Bryce sisters marshall the Scottish unit to a dominant win over Bangladesh, making it two-in-two victories in the ensuing Tri-Nation series.
In a tricky chase, Darcey Carter and Katherine Fraser jolted a 33 runs opening stand before a Marufa Akter ballet catch at deep square leg sent the swashbuckler packing. Following Carter's dismissal for 23, Kathryn Bryce joined her for almost four overs before the rain poured in with the score 56/1 in 8.1 overs.
A 15 mins break later, the rain lightened and the play resumed. The pair tried to carry the baton from where they left but Katherine Fraser's struggling knock came to an end as the team neared 90. The required run rate was never a problem when Kathryn Bryce joined her sister. She tore apart the bowlers left, right, and centre. In no time, Kathryn reached her fifty in 30 balls. With eight runs needed from five overs, it was done and dusted for Bangladesh Women as the Bryce sisters carried the team home.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Bangladesh openers struggled with the bat in the powerplay. They failed to get going well against the pace attack of Kathryn Bryce and Gabriella Fontenla. The latter bowler four overs straight in a spell, conceding eleven runs and picking up a wicket. She flirted with the edges of the bat consistently. Bangladesh were 46/3 in the ninth over before a 42 runs stand between Nigar Sultana Joty and Sobhana Mostary gave them hopes of a respectable total.
Abtaha Maqsood had the last laugh over Mostary, who was dismissed for run-a-ball 22 in the 15th over. With wickets in hand, Joty switched gears despite the dismissal of Shorna Akter after a well played cameo at the fav stages of the innings. Her 39-ball 46 including five fours and a six propelled Scotland Women to 133/5 in 20 overs.
