Okay then, we will take your leave but only to join you tomorrow for the live coverage of the second T20I. Till then, do join us for the coverage of TNPL and the Hundred. This is Arjun Bhalla signing off on behalf of Anurag Singh and Aryasekhar Chakraborty. Cheers!!
Mahmadullah | Bangladesh captain: The situation was like that, I wanted to go from the first ball, and we wanted to show intent - credit to the top-order batters to set the platform. THe bowlers took quick wickets and they were the ones who set things up for us towards the end from a poor position. The wicket stayed the same throughout, and we wanted to use our batting depth as well. I hope we come out with the same intent and we play a good game tomorrow.
Soumya Sarkar | POTM: I always try in the field and tried my best with the ball too according to the plan but I would have liked it if I could finish things with the bat. Initially, they bowled well, but I needed to take my time, and that turned out to be the right decision.
Soumya Sarkar gets the Player of the Match award and a cheque of USD 500.
Sikander Raza | Zimbabwe captain: We were looking at 170+. ad we were short. We did good things but didn't execute well, and I'm sure we can have a good game tomorrow. The lower middle order didn't fire, and not batting the last over was criminal, and I take some responsibility for that. You expect 1-2 overs in a powerplay to go for runs, so we did that okay, and we have to stick to bowling plans a touch longer. Hopefully we can be calmer at the death tomorrow and come out with a win. I wouldn't have minded it if they batted all 20 overs and lost the game. Tomorrow hopefully the new ball takes some wickets for us.
Time for Post Match Ceremony now.
Arjun: Earlier in the day, the Tigers pulled things back sensationally. At one moment, the home side was cruising at 91 for 2, at the ten-over mark, with both Chakabva and Myers well set. However, Shakib broke the stand, and Mustafizur and Saifuddin took on from there. Zimbabwe collapsed and perished on 152 for 10.
Arjun: But the tale of miscommunication continued as Bangladesh came under some pump. The Tigers got lucky for once, but a bullseye throw by Muzarabani ran Mahmuddulah out. Suddenly, Naim was mistiming the ball and failing to maneuver the gaps, but Narul Hasan calmed the nerves and cracked a couple of boundaries. In the end, Naim ended with an unbeaten 64 and Hasan struck 16, Bangladesh finished the game early with seven balls spare.
Arjun: After Sarkar, Naim joined hands with his skipper to take the total forward. There was a bit of miscommunication between the duo but Zimbabwe’s sloppy fielding gave Naim an extra lifeline. The opener took it with both hands as he thumped an unbeaten half-century.
Arjun: It wasn’t like Zimbabwe didn’t have their chances but the home team failed to hold on to it. The former skies one by Ngarava to Musakanda who dropped a running chance. As powerplay ended, Sarkar dropped his anchor and played second-fiddle to the 21-year-old. A twist in the tale was awaiting as the senior got run-out dramatically when he fell short of the crease while celebrating his fifty.
