As one of the top four seeded ICC nations alongside India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh received a direct bye into the last-eight stage of the knockout tournament. Malaysia, on the other hand, earned their quarter-final berth by topping Group B in convincing fashion.
