So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj, Ayan Chatterjee and our scorer for this game, Ashok Dayma. Do switch over to our coverage of two exciting Tests (IND v ENG and AUS-WI) to continue enjoying the sport we love so dearly! Until next time, it is a warm good-bye from all of us.
Robert O'Donnell now gets the trophy from the CEO Of New Zealand Cricket and now they pose for the photographs in front of the Champions Banner. They deserve it and the celebrations begin indoors. This is the 5th title for the Aces.
Robert O'Donnell (Auckland Aces captain): "End of the day, we can't control the weather like Cole said but super proud of the boys for the campaign. Some great batting from them and it would have taken some chasing. Won two tosses whole season and today turned out to be, luck played a part. We have been building towards the title. One on the board, we still have some good Ford Trophy results. Hopefully, we can go back to dominating white-ball cricket."
Cole McConchie (Canterbury Kings Captain): "Yes, certainly. We had high hopes and started well in Eden Park. But we had the base. The weather came in at the last moment. Yes bitter pill to swallow. We started the campaign slowly, but came back well in the second half of the tournament. We had tough games especially the Hamilton game against Wellington. We needed to be at our best today. Auckland are a quality side and they deserve it. The rain has had the final say. Such a shame for us. That's the way it goes. Hard to lose so many finals. Can't control the weather in the end. Hope to continue the consistency next season. We are unfortunate not to get over the line in the T20 competition."
The match officials are now getting their medals.
Time for the presentations.
11:37 AM IST, 7:07 PM Local Time: So, rain has had the final say as the game has been abandoned. Both teams shake hands as this results in a no result. Auckland Aces are crowned champions. It is very unfortunate for the Canterbury Kings as the weather beat them today.
11:30 AM IST, 7:00 PM Local Time: The two umpires make their way out to assess the conditions as it continues to rain in Auckland. We are waiting for the official word.
11:22AM IST, 6:52 PM Local Time: Well, the rain had stopped. The start time was 7 PM Local Time for an 8 over game but as faith would have it, the rain has returned and is raining heavily now. The big covers are coming into the pitch. This could be it one feels with time running out.
11:10 AM IST, 6:40 PM Local Time: Bad news for you guys. The rain has come back and the covers are being put back into the pitch. This could be the final nail in the coffin. Looks like the weather is winning today. Stay tuned for the official news regarding the state of the match.
