Moeen Ali (Antigua & Barbuda Falcons Captain): "[Sir Curtley said never doubt the Falcons, they are flying high. How do you feel?] I like it but we still have one big game to go. I'm obviously very happy that we've made it to the final. With that sort of performance, we were amazing tonight. I was a bit apprehensive, obviously, because we hadn't played for seven or eight days, and you're not sure exactly what you're going to get from the guys, but we were amazing tonight. I thought the bowlers, Alzarri and Fabian up top, did an amazing job on what we felt was actually a good wicket. And then the spinners in the middle just ripped through them and did an amazing job.
[What changed outside that powerplay?] Yeah, I mean, there was a bit of spin from Wyatt, but I think it was just about being a bit brave with the field. Sometimes having a midwicket in and making them try not to just give easy singles. And once I think we did that a little bit with Shadey, and Sufiyan got wickets, I think they just got a bit surprised with the way we bowled. But I still feel that eight of them were googlies, or seven were googlies, and it was just the line they bowled. It was amazing. They came out of the hand really well. But I thought there was a bit of poor batting in between, I have to say. I do feel that it was a great performance by our bowlers.
[On Falcons' first final and his captaincy] I think, learning-wise, I've learned a lot about the players. Having so many options is not always easy to deal with, and keeping guys happy as well. Sometimes that's the hardest thing. Jayden's bowled amazingly well. He's been brilliant for us, and today he missed out, and it's such a big game. Alzarri missed one before, so it's just being good with the players. I guess I missed the first two games, and I played that other game where we were only defending 50, and I saw incredible fight from the guys. I thought, as a leader, if I can try and use that and use the fight and the passion the guys have, and we've prepared really well, then it will help my game and I can help them.
[On the 8-day long gap between games and his message to the team ahead of final] Just saying the basics really well, what we've been doing really well. With the bat, tonight is probably the first time we had to fly in the powerplay with the bat. We haven't really done that much because our game plan has been just to play and not lose those wickets and then cash in at the end, because we do have a good bowling attack. But it's just really doing the basics well. The reason we're in this position, why we're here, is just really reiterating that and not getting too confident, because it is one game. I've been in many finals, and I feel like I've lost a lot and I've won a few, so I know what the feeling is like even when you're playing well. Just being humble and being quietly confident, not too overconfident, because it can bite you.
[On Cornwall] Yeah, he's honestly, I think, an amazing cricketer. He's got a brilliant mind. I go to him a lot as a captain. The shots he played today, the power he has, and he's very smart. And he bowls really well when the conditions suit him in the powerplay in particular. There are only a few players out there who people don't really talk much about. I try and use everyone as much as I can. Evin Lewis, guys like that I go to more than probably people think.
[On the Falcons' fans] A big part of it is to make them happy. The support we got in Antigua was actually amazing for us. Since then we got that drive. They have an amazing passion for the game and they really want us to do well and we feel part of the family and it's amazing to have that feeling."
Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors Captain): [on the collapse] "This is not the first time. We don't have time to look into it. We just have to come back strongly and that's what I can ask from the boys.
[what went wrong] It's the patience. The opposition won't dish it out for you. If the pitch is playing different, we have to adjust. We are playing all over the world, there's no excuse. I take the blame on behalf of the team. We should be more responsible.
[on the 2nd chance for the finals] We deserve to be here. We played really good in the whole comp. It's in the past. We want to achieve what we want to achieve, to win CPL. I don't think we're gonna justify what we did today. We need to be better today and need to come back stronger tomorrow.
[on Shepherd batting at 10] I never thought I was gonna go before him, I tried to kill some overs of spin but unfortunately I also played a bad shot. We wanted for him to go out and explore himself. This is not something we wanna do with him. We need to be more responsible.
[on the fans] Just a promise that we won't let them down tomorrow. We have to put a very big performance for them tomorrow night."
