Los Angeles Knight Riders ended their long wait for glory by winning the 2026 Major League Cricket title after edging Washington Freedom by just one run in a thrilling final on Saturday, July 18. The victory marked LAKR's maiden MLC championship after enduring three disappointing seasons.
Led by Sunil Narine's all-round brilliance throughout the tournament, the Knight Riders successfully defended 164 in a nerve-wracking contest that went down to the final ball. Shadley Van Schalkwyk held his nerve in the last over, while Narine and Jason Holder produced match-winning spells to seal a memorable triumph.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, Major League Cricket also handed out several prestigious individual awards. Here is a look at the complete list of all award winners after the MLC 2026 final.
1) MLC U-23 Player of the Tournament- Matthew Tromp (LAKR)
Matthew Tromp enjoyed a breakthrough campaign for the Los Angeles Knight Riders and emerged as one of the franchise's most dependable middle-order batters. The all-rounder scored 309 runs in 11 innings at an impressive average of 34.33, remaining unbeaten on multiple occasions and providing crucial finishes lower down the order.
His highest score of 58 not out came against the Texas Super Kings, while he also produced valuable knocks of 50, 49, 44 and 39 during the tournament.
Tromp's consistency under pressure helped LAKR recover from difficult situations on several occasions. His impressive performances throughout the season were rewarded with MLC U-23 Player of the Tournament award.
2) Bart King Award- Andries Gous (WF)
Despite Washington Freedom falling agonisingly short in the final, wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous finished the tournament with the highest aggregate of runs. The right-hander amassed 547 runs in 13 innings at an average of 45.58, producing several match-winning knocks to power Freedom into the title clash.
His remarkable consistency earned him the Bart King Award for Domestic Player of the Tournament, making him the only player besides Narine to bag multiple honours after the final.
For the unaware, the Bart King Domestic Player of the Tournament Award is Major League Cricket's highest individual honour for the best domestic player of the season. Named after American cricket legend Bart King, it recognises the top-performing USA-based or domestic-category player.

3) Leading Run-Scorer of the Tournament- Andries Gous (WF)
Andries Gous enjoyed a phenomenal campaign for Washington Freedom and finished as the leading run-scorer of MLC 2026, amassing 547 runs. The wicketkeeper-batter saved his best for the business end of the tournament, smashing scores of 132, 96, 83 and 73* to propel Freedom into the final.
His unbeaten 83 against San Francisco Unicorns and his record-breaking 132 against MI New York were among the standout knocks of the season. Gous also fought valiantly in the final with a determined 40 off 35 balls, although it wasn't enough to take his side over the line.
4) Leading Wicket-Taker of the Tournament- Sunil Narine (LAKR)
Sunil Narine finished as the joint-leading wicket-taker of the tournament, claiming 18 wickets in 11 innings at a sensational average of 11.33 and a low economy rate of 4.74. He struck at 14.3 and also secured a maiden over in the T20 tournament to further underline his dominance as a legendary spinner of the game.
He shared the top spot with Seattle Orcas pacer Ottneil Baartman, although Narine officially received the tournament's leading wicket-taker award after spearheading LAKR's title-winning run.
5) Most Valuable Player of the Tournament- Sunil Narine (LAKR)
Sunil Narine was the driving force behind the Los Angeles Knight Riders' maiden MLC title triumph, earning the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament award after delivering with both bat and ball throughout the campaign.
The veteran all-rounder finished as the tournament's joint-highest wicket-taker with 18 wickets in 11 innings at a superb average of 11.33 and an outstanding economy rate of 4.74. He consistently struck in the powerplay and middle overs, registering match-winning spells of 3/13 in the final, 2/17, 2/18, 2/22, 2/25, and 2/28 during the season.
Besides his bowling brilliance, Narine also chipped in with valuable runs, playing a pivotal role in LAKR's historic championship-winning campaign.
