With an aim to clinch back-to-back IPL titles, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in an all-important clash - Qualifier 1 of IPL 2026 on May 26.
Rajat Patidar, with a phenomenal captain's knock in Dharamshala, gave RCB plenty of momentum towards the back end of the innings, having come in with his team in a tricky position. Patidar hit a flurry of sixes to score 93*(33) in one of the great IPL playoff innings, pushing his team to 254/5.
The match played at the beautiful Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala saw many records being broken, with the highest innings total in IPL playoffs being one of them.

5. 222/5 by CSK vs DC, Chennai, 2012 (Qualifier 2)
In IPL 2012 Qualifier 2, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted a massive 222/5 against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in Chennai. Murali Vijay (113 off 58) and Suresh Raina (66 off 48) led the charge. CSK restricted Delhi to 136, winning by 86 runs to advance to the final.
The foundation of CSK's 222 was laid by an explosive 2nd-wicket partnership between Vijay and Raina, which took apart the Delhi bowling attack.
4. 226/6 by PBKS vs CSK, Mumbai (Wankhede), 2014 (Qualifier 2)
In the 2014 IPL Qualifier 2, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) posted a massive 226/6 against CSK at the Wankhede Stadium.
Virender Sehwag led the charge with a blistering 122 off 58 balls, setting up a 24-run victory after CSK's Suresh Raina smashed a record-breaking 87 off 25 balls in the chase.
3. 228/5 by MI vs GT, Mullanpur, 2025 (Eliminator)
In the 2025 IPL Eliminator at Mullanpur, the five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) posted a formidable 228/5 against Gujarat Titans.
Rohit Sharma (81 off 50) and Jonny Bairstow (47 off 22) set the foundation, leading MI to a 20-run victory. In the chase, GT reached 208/6, falling just short despite Sai Sudharsan's brilliant 80.
2. 233/3 by GT vs MI, Ahmedabad, 2023 (Qualifier 2)
Gujarat Titans' massive 233/3 against Mumbai Indians in the 2023 IPL Qualifier 2 was defined by Shubman Gill’s spectacular 129 off 60 balls. Featuring 7 fours and 10 sixes, it remains one of the greatest batting displays in playoff history. The innings propelled GT to a 62-run victory and a spot in the finals.
Gill shared an explosive 138-run stand with Sai Sudharsan (43 off 31 balls) to set a dominant foundation. Interestingly, to push the run rate, GT tactically retired Sudharsan. The former GT captain Hardik Pandya stepped in to smash a quick-fire 28* off 13 balls, taking GT to a seemingly unassailable 233/3.

The highest innings total in IPL playoff history is 254/5, set by Royal Challengers Bengaluru against the Gujarat Titans during Qualifier 1 of the 2026 season.
It was an absolutely sensational innings from RCB captain Rajat Patidar, 93 off 33 balls, that took RCB to a mammoth 254/5 from its 20 overs. The match witnessed a batting of the highest order from RCB, showing no mercy to any of the bowlers.
