On Tuesday, in the first qualifier of IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bengaluru scripted history as the Rajat Patidar-led side put 254 runs on the board. The two teams locked horns at the Dharamshala Stadium, and Shubman Gill’s decision to bowl first turned out to be a nightmare.
Notably, RCB, batting first, lost an early wicket, but Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal stitched a fifty-plus stand for the 2nd wicket. However, GT got back in the hunt with two wickets in the same over. Rajat Patidar then took responsibility on his shoulders and slammed a brilliant 93 off just 33 balls.

Rajat Patidar walked to bat when RCB were 93/2 after 8.2 overs. From that situation, Patidar went all guns blazing, and his 93-run knock helped RCB put 254 runs on the board. Patidar’s knock featured five fours and nine sixes.
With the brilliant knock, Patidar went on to break a plethora of records. The most special feat was that the RCB captain dethroned Shreyas Iyer to slam the highest individual score by an Indian captain in IPL playoffs history.
