All records shattered by RCB in Qualifier 1 [Source: AP]
The RCB vs GT IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 was supposed to be a cracker of a contest, but the RCB batting showcased a gulf of difference between the two units as the defending champions made a mockery of the GT bowling attack and posted a mammoth total to push the Titans on the back-foot.
The Titans started off with an early wicket, but that was GT’s last laugh in the game as Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Krunal Pandya turned things around and helped RCB side create history in the Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2026.
Patidar leads the charge as RCB post 254
Put into bat by Shubman Gill, RCB opener Venkatesh Iyer posted a quickfire 19 off 7 before Kagiso Rabada took his prized wicket. Once the wicket fell, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal led the charge as they took on the GT bowlers, and never allowed them to settle in.
Kohli scored 43 off 25 and created a world record as RCB looked all set to post a big total. This is when Jason Holder struck with wickets of Kohli, and Padikkal in quick succession.
Rajat Patidar, the RCB captain came in at number 4, and at one stage, he struggled at 15 off 11 before the batter unleashed himself. He took down every GT bowlers, and smacked a commanding 93* off 33 balls, with a strike rate of 281 as the defending champions posted 254/5.

RCB's mantra to win Qualifier 1 vs GT
GT has never chased down a total in excess of 250, and Shubman Gill's team has their task cut out. For the Titans to reach the IPL finals, the top three (Gill, Sudharsan, Buttler), not only have to score runs but also have to score them at a rapid rate.
The GT opening trio has scored most of the team runs in IPL 2026, and for RCB to win the game, their bowlers need to dismiss Gill, Sudharsan, and Buttler quickly to put the middle-order under pressure.
