Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell announced his retirement from international cricket on November 3, 2026, bringing an end to an illustrious career across formats.
However, the ‘Big Show’ will continue playing franchise cricket and remains available for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL), having extended his contract until the 2027-28 season.
Maxwell has also enjoyed a long association with the Indian Premier League (IPL), representing multiple franchises and producing some memorable performances.
Despite experiencing ups and downs, he has remained one of the most sought-after overseas players in the competition.
However, recently, after a difficult couple of seasons, Maxwell announced his decision to withdraw from the IPL 2026 auction on December 2, 2025, through Instagram.
Here's a look at Glenn Maxwell IPL teams over the years.
1. Delhi Daredevils: 2012, 2018
Glenn Maxwell began his IPL journey with Delhi Daredevils in 2012. However, he did not get many opportunities to showcase his explosive batting and could not establish himself in the playing XI.
He returned to the franchise in 2018, finishing his Delhi stint with 175 runs and six wickets in 14 matches.
2. Mumbai Indians: 2013
Maxwell moved to Mumbai Indians for the 2013 season. Although he was part of a title-winning campaign, he had limited opportunities and scored just 36 runs in three matches.
Mumbai went on to win their maiden IPL title that year, adding a championship to Maxwell's early IPL experience.
3. Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings): 2014-2017, 2020, 2025
Kings XI Punjab gave Maxwell the platform to establish himself as an IPL star. His 2014 campaign was particularly memorable, as his aggressive batting helped the franchise reach its maiden final.
Across his Punjab stints, he scored 1,342 runs and picked up 17 wickets in 72 matches. After returning in 2020 for INR 10.75 crore, he endured a disappointing season, scoring just 108 runs without hitting a six.
He later returned to Punjab Kings for the 2025 edition, but failed to leave a mark, finishing with only 48 runs and 4 wickets across 7 games.
4. Royal Challengers Bangalore: 2021-2024
Royal Challengers Bangalore signed Maxwell for INR 14.25 crore at the 2021 auction. He repaid the franchise's faith by scoring 513 runs in his first season and became a key part of its middle order.
Across four seasons, Maxwell scored 1,266 runs and claimed 18 wickets in 52 matches. He continued to contribute with both bat and ball, although his final two seasons were less productive.
