It's that time of the year, and in India everyone is celebrating Raksha Bandhan 2026! In the cricket fraternity, several brother-sister duos have played the game and made significant contributions.
The festival is built around love, care, protection and lifelong support. On this day, sisters tie a rakhi around their brothers' wrists and pray for their happiness and well-being, while brothers promise to stand by their sisters and often give them gifts.
Over the years, several brother-sister pairs have represented their countries on the international stage. Having said this, in this article, let’s take a look at some notable brother-sister pairs who have contributed to the game.

Annabel Sutherland, Will Sutherland (Australia)
Australian siblings Annabel Sutherland and Will Sutherland have both represented their country in international cricket.
Annabel Sutherland made an early impression in domestic cricket and played in the Women's Big Bash League at only 15. She made her Australia debut in T20Is and ODIs in 2020 and was part of the squad for the 2020 T20 World Cup. She later made her Test debut against India in 2021 on October 3.
Her brother, Will Sutherland, was born on October 27, 1999 and also part of the Australia's U19 side at the 2018 U19 World Cup. He went on to become an all-rounder for Victoria and has also captained the Melbourne Renegades in the BBL.
Laura Delany, Gareth Delany (Ireland)
Ireland has also produced a notable brother-sister combination in Laura and Gareth Delany.
Laura is one of the most experienced players in Irish women's cricket and has been an important figure for many years. She made her international debut in 2010 and has so far played 75 ODI matches, scoring 1411 runs at a strike rate of 63.33.
In T20I, she has played 132 matches and made 1659 runs at a strike rate of 88.95.
Her brother Gareth Delany has made his own name in men's cricket. He is an aggressive batter who can also bowl leg-spin and has become a regular part of Ireland's white-ball setup. Gareth made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in July 2019 before making his ODI debut against the West Indies in January 2020.
Harry Tector, Alice Tector (Ireland)
Harry Tector, the right-handed batter, has played Tests, ODIs and T20Is for Ireland and has scored heavily in international cricket.
It is important to note that he has played 10 Tests and made 492 runs at a strike rate of 44.32. In the ODI format, he played 58 matches and made 2098 runs at an average of 44.63 and a strike rate of 81.95.
In the shortest format of the game, Harry Tector has represented 100 matches and made 1898 runs at an average of 24.97 and a strike rate of 121.58.
Harry's younger sister Alice Tector is also making her way in international cricket. Born in May 2008, she is a right-handed batter and right-arm medium-fast bowler.

Babette de Leede, Bas de Leede (Netherlands)
The Netherlands has a similar family connection - Babette de Leede and her cousin Bas de Leede.
Babette de Leede is a wicketkeeper-batter and has become a prominent figure in Dutch women's cricket. Under her leadership, the Netherlands achieved a historic qualification for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup.
In the tournament, she played 4 matches and made 158 runs at an average of 52.67 and a strike rate of 139.82.
Bas de Leede, the seam-bowling all-rounder, has contributed with both bat and ball since making his international debut in 2018. Taking a look at his career, he has played 61 ODI matches and contributed 1420 runs at an average of 28.40.
In the longest format of the game, he has made 881 runs in 49 matches at a strike rate of 106.65.
Isobel Joyce, Ed Joyce (Ireland)
Ed Joyce's twin sisters Isobel and Cecelia Joyce also played for Ireland. Isobel Joyce appeared in Tests, ODIs and T20Is as a left-arm medium all-rounder, while Cecelia was a right-handed opening batter who represented Ireland in ODIs and T20Is.
Ed Joyce represented both England and Ireland during his career and played at the 2007 and 2011 World Cups. He later became involved in coaching and took charge of the Ireland women's team.
