Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, and Anvay Dravid, younger son of batting great Rahul Dravid, have been selected in India’s Under-19 squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia Under-19.
The 15-member squad, announced by BCCI on August 27, marks a notable moment in Indian cricket. It is the first time the names “Sehwag” and “Dravid” will feature together in the Indian team since their fathers last played a Test against Australia in January 2012.

However, this isn’t the first time that a son of prominent Indian cricket is making waves. Several Indian father-son duos have graced the cricketing field, including pairs like Yuvraj and Yograj Singh, Stuart and Roger Binny, and Rohan and Sunil Gavaskar.
Along the same lines, in this article, let’s take a look at 5 sons who followed in the footsteps of their legendary fathers and are in the limelight for recent performances at the domestic level.
1) Arjun Tendulkar and the 'Great' Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, famously known as the ‘God of Cricket’, was the most complete batter and the most prolific run-maker of all time.
Making his debut on November 15, 1989, he represented India internationally for nearly 24 years before hanging up his boots in 2013. He amassed 34,357 runs, the highest of all time in international cricket.
However, today, Arjun Tendulkar, the son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, is carving his own path in the cricketing world with his left-arm medium-fast bowling and left-handed batting.
Born in Mumbai, Arjun has been a part of the cricketing fabric from a young age, and his journey has been closely watched by fans and critics alike.
Arjun's domestic career has seen him transition from Mumbai to Goa, where he continues to hone his skills. His debut in the Indian Premier League with Mumbai in 2023 marked a significant milestone in his career.
So far, he has played for two IPL franchises, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
2) Rahul Dravid’s sons Anvay and Samit
Former Indian captain and the T20 World Cup 2024-winning head coach, Rahul Dravid, belonged to a breed of cricketers who relied on hard work and resilience.
Rahul, also known as the ‘Wall’, had a technique so perfect and versatile that it suited all conditions.
In contemporary times, his two sons, Samit and Anvay, are walking the same path as Rahul Dravid. Both are developing professional cricketers, making their respective way into the higher levels of the game.

Anvay, who is the younger son of Rahul, recently retained his place in the ODI squad after being part of the U-19 side that toured Sri Lanka last month.
The 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter scored 87 and 14 in the two Youth ODIs he played during the tour.
Before that, Anvay had led Karnataka's Under-19 side to the quarter-finals of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2026. He scored 220 runs in the tournament, the second-most for his side, averaging 55.00 across six innings.
Interestingly, ahead of Anvay, his elder brother, Samit was also picked for the India U19s to play against Australia Under-19s in 2024, but was sidelined due to a knee injury. Samit has earned the Under-19 call-up on the back of Karnataka’s T20 league, the Maharaja T20 Trophy.
3) Virender Sehwag’s sons Aaryavir and Vedant
A starry-eyed boy from Najafgarh, Virender Sehwag, constructed an extraordinary career with a relentless quest and a genius for boundary hitting.
Minimal footwork coupled with maximum intent, Sehwag piled up runs faster than anyone at that time.
Thanks to his amazing hand-eye coordination, the senior Sehwag had scored two triple centuries in Test during his career, becoming the first and only Indian to reach the milestone.
Interestingly, Virender Sehwag’s sons, Aaryavir and Vedant, too are living the same dream.
Aaryavir, a right-handed batter, plays domestic cricket for Delhi. He caught attention after nearly missing out on a triple century against Meghalaya in the Cooch Behar Trophy, finishing with 297 runs.
Recently, the youngster, representing West Delhi Lions in the DPL 2026, caught the attention of fans by showcasing some of his father’s iconic strokes.
Moreover, Virender Sehwag's younger son, 16-year-old Vedant, too plays for Delhi and is making his way through with consistent performances.
In the 2025 edition of the Delhi Premier League, Vedant was a part of the championship-winning side, West Delhi Lions, and in the ongoing edition is a part of the Central Delhi Kings, his elder brother Aaryavir’s former side.
