Sonal Dinusha makes fun of Indians with another teammate | PC- Screengrab
Sri Lanka managed to pull off a draw from the jaws of defeat against the Shubman Gill-led India team on the last day of the Colombo Test. Sonal Dinusha became an overnight sensation, and so did Lahiru Kumara and Asitha Fernando for aiding the 25-year-old batter.
The series ended with a scoreline of 1-nil in favour of Indians, but Sri Lanka still found an opportunity to have a laugh at their opponents’ expense, apart from Dinusha breaking every possible record.
One such instance from the final day of the IND vs SL Test series, involving Sonal Dinusha, has come to light.
Sonal Dinusha, Lahiru Kumara mock Indians
In a video going viral on social media, Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha and Lahiru Kumara, who stitched a 170-ball 47-run partnership for the ninth wicket, were caught on mic mocking the Indians.
Although the Lankan batters were conversing in their local language, the translation of the very conversation is being picked up on the internet.
Sonal Dinusha - “Just see how they faces are.”
Lahiru Kumara - “We don’t get to see them like this very often.”

During the conversation, the two batters were referring to Team India's dropped shoulders after the mammoth marathon on the final day of IND vs SL 2nd Test.
The Sonal Dinusha show that denied a whitewash vs India
For the fourth time in the Test series, Sonal Dinusha annoyed the India bowlers, slamming his third century against the visiting team. After he slammed an unbeaten 133 runs, he ended the two-match series with a total of 420 runs at an average of 140.
Although he played four marvellous knocks, his 133-run blitz will go down as one of the finest knocks played by a Sri Lankan batter in recent times. Not only did he play marvellously, but he secured a draw for the home team in Colombo.
Meanwhile, India, despite cruising for the majority of the two Test matches and having won the series, have seen a drop in percentage points in the current WTC cycle, making it tougher for them to qualify for the final next year.
Is Sonal Dinusha the next big thing in Sri Lanka?
Sonal Dinusha has become a star born in Sri Lankan cricket after having a spectacular series against a ferocious Indian unit. He may have made his Test debut last year against Bangladesh, but he recently announced himself to the world.
Before the IND vs SL Test series, the southpaw had just a half-century in Test cricket, but now, he has three centuries and two fifties under his belt, as he averages 86.57 after five matches.
The youngster would have to prove himself in away conditions, but he has shown technique, character and hunger to do well against top teams at the highest level. The next litmus test for him will be later this season, when Sri Lanka tour Pakistan and New Zealand for Test series.
