Almost 13 years ago, in IPL 2013, the former RCB batting great, Chris Gayle, achieved a historic milestone in the tournament’s 31st match. He smashed an IPL century off just 30 balls, registering the record for the fastest century in the entire history of IPL.

Gayle’s record hasn’t been broken so far even after 12 editions have passed since the event. The only player who ever came close was, RR’s teenage batting prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed the second-fastest IPL century off just 35 balls in IPL 2025.

Meanwhile, there are some other batters, alongside Suryavanshi,  who can break Chris Gayle’s record for the fastest IPL 100.

Given that, here in this article, we’ll have a look at the 5 players who can break Chris Gayle’s fastest IPL 100 record.

5 Players who can break Chris Gayle’s fastest IPL 100 record

Abhishek Sharma

SRH's blistering opener, Abhishek Sharma, has already had the record for one of the fastest centuries in the IPL history. He smashed a 100 off just 40 balls against the Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. It happened to be the sixth-fastest century in IPL.

Besides that, Abhishek also holds the record for the joint-fourth-fastest half-century in IPL history. He scored a half-century off just 16 balls against the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024.

Hence, the young southpaw’s power-hitting ability makes him a strong contender to break Chris Gayle’s record of the fastest IPL 100.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi

The emerging batting talent, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, is set to be in action for the Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming IPL 2026. He stunned everyone with his sensational performances last year in his debut season.

Suryavanshi also achieved the record of smashing the second-fastest ton in the IPL history. With a hundred off just 35 balls against GT in IPL 2025. He is now just behind Chris Gayle in this list of players with fastest centuries in IPL.

Therefore, the 14-year-old might also achieve the milestone of smashing the fastest ever century in the IPL history, surpassing Chris Gayle.

Travis Head

The swashbuckling opening batter, Travis Head, was one of the vital cogs in the wheel for SRH in their journey to the final in IPL 2024. In that season, he also smashed the joint-fourth fastest century in IPL. Head smashed a century off just 39 balls against RCB in the tournament’s 30th match.

The Aussie southpaw regularly comest to bat in the opening slot for SRH, so he has a good enough chance to smash the fastest IPL century in the tournament’s coming seasons.

Apart from his century off 39 balls in IPL 2024, Head also had the record of smashing the half-century off just 16 balls on two occasions in the same edition. He also has a knack for breaking Chris Gayle’s fastest IPL century record.

Dewald Brevis

Last year in IPL 2025, Dewald Brevis was in action for CSK and attracted the eyeballs for his 19-ball half-century against the Gujarat Titans in the tournament’s 67th game.

Eventually, CSK won this game by 83 runs, and Brevis won the ‘Player of the match’ for his 57-run knock off just 23 balls, including four fours and five sixes.

Recently, Brevis was also in the headlines for his blistering century in the SA20 2026 final, where he scored 101 runs off just 56 balls, with eight fours and seven sixes. So, he can also be one of the five batters who are in the race to break Gayle’s fastest IPL 100 record.

Nicholas Pooran

The star LSG wicketkeeper-batter, Nicholas Pooran, is one of the most powerful hitters in IPL. He was the second leading run-scorer for LSG in IPL 2025, scoring 524 runs in 14 innings, with an average of 43.66 and a strike rate of 196.70, hitting five centuries.

Pooran also holds the record for the joint-third-fastest half-century in IPL. He smashed a fifty off just 15 balls against RCB in IPL 2023.

In this game, he scored 65 runs off just 30 balls, with six fours and five sixes, winning the ‘Player of the Match’ award as LSG won by a narrow margin of just one wicket. Considering his power-hitting abilities, the Caribbean star can also be ranked among the five batters who can break Chris Gayle’s fastest IPL century record.
