Rajasthan Royals have been prolific in the IPL 2026. Led by Riyan Parag, the Royals have won six out of their first nine matches, steadily progressing towards the playoffs.

While their middle order has blown hot and cold, RR have massively benefited from their explosive top order, headed by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel have undoubtedly played some impactful knocks. However, 15-year-old wonderkid Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has outshone the experienced duo with consistency and scintillating stroke play.

The prodigious batting talent has sent the cricket fraternity into frenzy, dominating legends of the game like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood.

However, it's worth noting that the youngster awaits his biggest challenge, as he's all set to face Mitchell Starc in the upcoming RR Vs DC IPL 2026 match.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi vs Mitchell Starc: The face-off is finally here!

Talismanic fast bowler Mitchell Starc has received his NOC from Cricket Australia to play the remainder of the IPL 2026. His return to the DC IPL 2026 squad has strengthened the Capitals, as they aim to bounce back and stay alive in the playoff race.

Given that the Royals have been primarily dependent on their top-order to succeed with the bat, Delhi Capitals will leave no stone unturned to dismiss the dynamic trio of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel.

Sooryavanshi will be their prime target, having outperformed his teammates by scoring 400 runs at a blistering strike rate of 238.10 in IPL 2026

And needless to say, Mitchell Starc is going to be DC's biggest hope of getting the big fish early.

The grey areas in Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's game that Mitchell Starc can exploit

Talking about Mitchell Starc, the Australian pace maestro has 66 dismissals of left-handed batters in the T20 format.

His average and strike rate against left-handers read 21.87 and a strike rate of 16.13. These stats suggest that he has done fairly well against the left-handed batters.

Having said that, Starc must be proactive against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who gives the bowlers little margin for error.

He can't bowl too full or short, as Sooryavanshi is capable of smashing such deliveries into the fence.

His bat-swing and range make Sooryavanshi one of the most efficient strikers of the game. So, Mitchell Starc should bowl him at the stumps, hit the ideal 6-7m length (where his strike rate falls significantly) and try to move the ball around the off-stump channel.

The Australian ace can also surprise him with well-targeted short balls, considering Praful Hinge dismissed Sooryavanshi with a similar delivery earlier in the IPL 2026.
